In the early 90's I lived in HHH and there was a group of guys who lived in the post office and I used to always hear them refer themselves as "Hotard." I never really understood what they were talking about. Where did they sleep? Weird.

I must be out of touch, I thought I had heard it was being converted to office space. Is it being razed?

I remember visting a friend at HHH and I used the bathroom and flushed the toilet when someone was taking a shower. After all I did live off campus the guy in shower suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns over most of his body.

3rd degree burns from hot water? Doubtful.

I lived in Hotard as a freshman in the spring of '80.

During that time we had only one phone per floor, it was in the hallway and everybody shared/answered it. Obviously, there was no internet or anything like that at the time, so we relied on the newspaper or the local news. This was during the Iran hostage crisis (most of you Texags posters were not born yet).

There was no a/c and heat was by the clanky old steam radiators. The two modular dorms next door were under construction, so every morning around 6 am you could count on hearing those guys out there hammering away and yelling at each other. I lived on the side where the construction was taking place. You cannot imagine the dust - we didn't have screens or anything it was just a wide open window (remember no a/c).

It was a pretty brutal existence, and I mostly found reasons to not be there. I cannot even remember my roomate's name and I never went anywhere or did anything with him except occupy the room.

4 year Hotard Man here 88-92. If you made a triangle from Blocker to Sbisa to The Chicken, Hotard would sit right in the middle. I got smarter, fatter, and drunker without ever having to walk more than 2 blocks at a time. Maybe that explains some of the fatter part.

I lived in HHH in the mid 90's as well and I remember the Hotard Post office annex as well. I didn't realize it was a dorm. How many people can you pack in there? like 15?

Shooter, did you know Dan Boone and Stewart? (forgot his last name). Coupla old drinking buds of mine from Hotard during that time.

Might as well be razed.

Still gonna be an office.

Southlake - I don't remember them. I only lived there for one semester and I was a ghost. The head RA - I forget what you call that position, was from my hometown (Lancaster) and I'm not even sure I can remember his name.

Too many beers, way too many beers.

By the way, I lived in YOUR neighborhood in Southlake for eight years and I am not even sure who you are!

Lived at the Hilton in 93-94. We had a gay RA on the 4th floor. He found it quite amusing to steal your towel while you were in the shower so you had to walk back to your room in the buff.

I'll never forget the 1st time I had to use the commode. Talk about the open door policy. Of course, it became second nature after you got to know everyone.

UPD to Hotard from Hell because an Old Ho was wearing only a Bonfire pot covering his nether-regions. Old Ho was subsequently banned from the dorm.

Actually quite possible and easily done. I can't speak for the water in Hotard, but you can suffer 3rd degree burns from water.

Oh yea, in '99 we also had the best grode pits in the Hotard backyard. We'd run the hose all afternoon getting it nice and muddy.

Don't forget the rattlesnake.
