Laminate flooring is the work of the devil

Due to an irresponsible person mascarading as a plumber (me), a friend of mine had about 200 square feet of her house flooded. I had spent the last couple of evenings re-installing some laminate wood flooring that was pulled up to remove the water. Once we figured out the keys to installation, it went back together pretty quickly. However, it was not without incident.

1. The stupid and lazy flooring contractor glued some of the panels together making a few of them impossible to remove without destroying them. The water damage to the floor was minimal, but the damage due to removing glued panels was not insignificant. This was in spite of the instructions on the box that say "DO NOT GLUE". Dumbasses.

2. The builder was gracious enough to leave a couple of boxes of replacement panels behind just in case we needed to do a repair. Unfortunately, we had to use quite a few us the spares. The problem now is that, as I look at the last box, this particular flooring was made in Luxembourg and imported by some folks in Bonita Springs, FL who I can't even find on the internet. Other searches for this flooring (Lux Floor Fix or Lux Loc) in the United States have been unsuccessful.

Spec home builders really piss me off. If any of you scheisters know where I can get more of this stuff, let me know. I'd hate to have to replace the whole floor if another accident happens and I can't find replacements for this off-spec stuff.

Hire real plumbers in the future and you've got no worries.

Can't you call the builder and find out his source for the flooring?

Problem is - this flooring has likely been discontinued. This has happened to me on the previous couple of houses. So this time, when I built this house I bought several extra boxes of tile flooring for the potential chipped/cracked tile.

i worked in the flooring buisness up untill a month ago. I know how annoying it can be when someone glues down a floor that should be a floating floor. what I would do is call a few wood flooring companies and ask them if they can find a box of the flooring from their distributor. They might not have it listed online, but they should be able to find you a box. Most flooring is imported from far away countries, esp in South America and Europe so dont let that discourage you.

Floating wood floors are not supposed to be glued anywhere. That's why they are called floating.

It could have been worse. You could have had me helping you with the plumbing fiasco. The whole dang house would have been flooded.

Was it Stylecraft? If so, call and ask for Randy French and explain the story to him. He's really good about helping out "non-customers" with things like this. He can probably tell you where to get more flooring and may even have some he'll give you.
