Milner is really run-down looking. And why they designed a building with half of the basement poking up above street level is beyond me.

Blocker really need to be power-washed. The side facing University has green and brown stains running down from every window. Ech.

Anybody remember this eyesore?

Did they tear down the Reed/McDonald Building (copy/printing services) yet? It is by far the ugliest and up till a few years ago when they did some work on the exterior it was orange.

As far as interior, Blocker and Heldenfels' color coded floors are stupid. I'm not sure which is worse though, Heldenfels has the sardine can lecture hall and Blocker has the green house walkway.

biological sciences always bothered me

I really enjoyed playing basketball in one end of Deware and having the archery team practice at the other end. Periodically, the ball would roll their way and you'd have to wait until everyone had let their arrows fly before retrieving.

On a semi-related "old gym basketball" note, I used to play ball at a gym on the t.u. campus that was so old the key was still shaped like a keyhole ala Hoosiers. Seriously old school.

What is the deal with the pipes on top of Kleberg? Are those decorations or useful?

i had raquetball in Deware! that building was awesome. kind of creepy, though.

A&M (building-wise) might be one of the ugliest campuses in the nation. I went back this summer and was appalled at the architecture. If it wasn't for the great trees hiding some of those building, I'm not sure we could attract anyone to the place.

Of course it doesn't help that I spend alot of time on Rice's campus - which is beautiful, except for a few eyesores.

Try working there...you'll begin to feel like you are in a mental institution! I used to have an office in the first building you come to as you enter the campus. It's recently been deemed "unfit for human use," and is mostly storage now. Hell, we could have told them that. It's kinda freaky to unlock the door at 7:30 on a Monday morning and find thousands and thousands of dead june bugs covering the floors (hallway only).

what about this piece of crap building? Inside and out. It's the only building you could go into and come out in worse shape.

Oh yeah.... who remembers picking up Aggielands here? This had to be the worst ever on campus of all time.

On the subject of the O&M building... I guess I may be a huge dork for saying this but from the first time I saw it I have thought it looks like something out of the G.I. JOE cartoon show I watched as a kid. I mean come on, it has a "command tower" thingy, a giant radar dish, big red landing light looking things on each corner...

By FAR the ugliest building on campus is that big YELLOW rectangular biology one with the slit windows. Who the HELL thought that was good looking? Even in the 70's? It is an eyesore and embarrasing.

Most of our buildings need either:

a)To be torn down
1. That yellow one
2. Any other blatantly stalinist looking thing built in the 70's or 80's.

b)major repair i.e. the academic building which is one of the only nice looking things we have but is literally crumbling apart. If you dont believe me go look at it, it is missing brick and masonry all over and falls farther into a shambles every month as more stuff falls down.

c) hardcore power washing i.e. blocker

I think we have one of the ugliest campuses anywhere and it is because the university underwent DRAMATIC expansion that few other colleges have faced so suddenly and during a time when architecture was awful. Look at any building built in the 70's or 80's. They all suck. At that time appearently we were in an ugly building competition with the Soviet empire. I would be willing to venture a guess that we may be the only university our size that built MOST of it's buildings in the 70's. That's why campus sucks. At the time they thought it was beautiful. We know better and suffer under their lack of umm... taste.

Oh yeah I meant this. It is disgusting, especially since it is in close proximity to a few of our only good looking buildings.

I worked out in the DeWare basement during Summer '92 and lived to tell about it. I'm glad it's gone.
