Uncover remains one of the stupidist "traditions" new army has dreamt up.

REST!

Ya'll aren't even discussing what I am discussing - MY POINT was that "uncover" was around before he was. He needs to get over it - and the obnoxious current students who freak out about people not uncovering need to get over it, too.

The new group of current students apparently has some issues...it's no wonder they are threatening to take away the 1st deck seating and selling it to the former students.

This needs to be addressed at Fish Camp. Jeeze. We don't want to turn into a bunch of asses like Tech.

What Go Postal said.

I always thought of "uncover" as a fun and respectful tradition - I don't know what they are doing to it now, but it sounds like people don't want to do it and people who want to keep it alive aren't handling it well in the stands.

Grow up kids - you are supposed to be keeping The Spirit alive - not just deciding when it is convenient for you to do so and to cuss out people in the middle of the football game as well.

combat's got a point. We did uncover ~ from 84-89. But if classes since are going to fish camp and aren't told anything about it...let it go. If the people saying they refuse to do it didn't even go so fish camp, that speaks for itself.

As for the MSC -that's not negotiable. All hats should be removed. It someone forgets or doesn't know, you QUIETLY & POLITELY remind them.

Keeping the Spirit alive would be actually going to the game and watching it instead of harassing others. I am very passionate about football and even more when it comes to Aggie Football. I like to watch formations, know whats going on, etc. I DON'T like doing yells when we are on offense or when men from the United States Military are being introduced after their flyovers. In other words, leave others the hell alone and yell your @$$ off when the good guys are on defense. And the Wrecking Crew chant has got to stop. They are on the way but have a good ways to go. Next year they will be back. Rant over.

"Uncover" has been around for a long time, but the modern Uncover Nazis didn't start until 2002.

For the record, uncovering for yells was well active while I was a student @ A&M (1993-1998).

I do not agree with how the Uncover Police have deemed it necessary to be jack@sses about the uncover tradition, but at the same time, traditions are what sets A&M apart.

<sarcasm warning>

I believe that war is wrong and I want to have a picnic on the lawn of the MSC. I'm sure everyone is going to just let it go, right? Because apparently traditions can be ignored if you don’t agree with them.

There is no scientific proof that you can yell louder when you hump it. Therefore, from now on, I will stand tall when participating in yell. In fact, I’m going to bring a giant electronic megaphone because that has been proven to make voices louder.

And from now on, I’m not going to say Howdy to people on campus. What do I look like, some kind of cowboy? I don’t even know the person, why should I be friendly?

</sarcasm warning>

If you do not agree with something, do something to try and change it. If you do not, then by all means, keep b*tching about it when it comes up EVERY YEAR, EVERY GAME.

I had my chance when I was a student and I made my voice heard when I needed to. I am now “old army”. Students, now its your turn and your right to make a difference. All b*thcing ever does is make you sound like a freakin’ crybaby.

speaking of uncover, why does every hiilybilly, hayseed leave his cowboy hat on indoors?
What....you need the wide brim to shield you from the lights?

1. No one shuld wear hat indoors

2. if you are, not a freaking cowboy hat!
...we got it, you're from the sticks. the long wallet and tight jeans are enough.

AMGs55 - They aren't real cowboys unless they have a belt buckle the size of a stop sign.

I agree with the no hat indoors policy. Also, take the hat off while you eat. It's just polite. Goes along with chewing with your mouth closed and opening doors for ladies.

Guess those are old values that are not taught anymore.

Ok, call me a kid. I'd never even heard of uncovering for yells until I joined texags a couple of years ago. Never missed a home game in my six years on campus (two degress) and missed darn few SWC away games.

Traditions are fluid and constantly changing. Apparently sometime in the 80's someone made up the "uncover" "tradition". It has apparently never caught on 100%.

Anybody who berates another Aggie for something like failing to "uncover" for a yell is a jackass. (period)

Fun? I don't think it's fun for Ags to yell and curse at fellow Ags for not taking off a hat. Maybe if the hate is the size of Delaware, sure. But a baseball cap? Certainly that doesn't impede anybody's view of the game.

Respectful? We're yelling to beat the hell out of somebody. How, pray tell, can you show respect and yell that at the same time?

"off the wood" is just as bad, if not worse. wasn't around in 2001 (or i never heard it), and it reared its ugly head in 2002.

the yell boys need to get on both of these subjects more at future yell practices

Y'all have got to learn this new tradition...it involves going to the game and harassing others and playing grab @$$. Make sure you don't pay any attention to the game. Just participate in the yells and make very stupid comments about our team, even though you more than likely will know nothing about football.
