I can only find PETA petitions and articles but no specifics.

Was this the vet school?
Was it a grant?

If anyone has any information or resources, I would love to know. I just don't want animals to suffer. If A&M did this haphazardly, I would like to know.

I love A&M and have always supported them as my school. But if this is true and it was malignant treatment, I want to know the truth.

And if so why wasn't the university more transparent about it? If it was cruel treatment, that's awful, esp for a school with a premiere vet program. Vets serve to treat and care for God's animals.

Pets are sentient and such cruelty is wrong. I do understand the overcrowding of shelters and even the need for cadavers for classes and research.

Maybe three or four years ago there were signs taped to light poles around campus by PETA folks claiming cruelty due to research on dogs for muscular dystrophy.

If I remember correctly, the news that came out at the time was that one researcher had been hired from another school and had gone rogue and started doing his own research and it wasn't approved by the administration at the vet school, and he was fired, but it's been quite some time since I read anything on that.

I feel bad for any research animals, but improvements for humans and animals have come from some form of animal testing over time. And that can help a huge number of animals going forward.

I know A&M does or did use beagles they purchased from Ridglan Farms (a commercial breeder) for lab experiments.

Paxton blocked the open records request due to doctor (vet) patient (dog) confidentiality (not kidding). So we don't really know what happened to those dogs. Probably something not good. This is from the article you linked.

Any ads online I skip. Haven't watched more than a few seconds of any political ad because why? I already know how I'm going to vote.

I was leaning towards Talarico but I've been seeing ads that he wants to chop off kids' wieners so now I'm not sure.

He pandered to that crowd and then his handlers told him his positions were too extreme so he's walked some of them back. Being a politician, he will go back to saying what he really believes if he gets elected (he won't).

All over? 2 boards? Ok.

I think the euthanasia numbers are about 50,000 canines in Texas on an annual basis. That doesn't even count all the dogs that just die in a backyard due to neglect or side of a road.

Some are diseased and hopelessly ill dogs. A lot are not.

I live in a county with several great groups that have a "no kill" goal. it is a worthy goal. You can actively assist, if able, or donate. Every little bit helps.

I am a dog lover. Every one of those dogs just can't be saved. But we can try. And of course, spay and neuter.

And yeah, the Beagle testing centers are painful to me.

The ad is just a political skank ad. It's low life politics.

I have a B.S. and M.S. degrees in Animal Science/Meat Science…from a long, long time ago. I can't speak for beagles, but I can speak first hand that cattle that were subject to nutritional research were euthanized.
