Damn, I've heard plenty of horror stories of tonsil removals as adults and the ensuing recoveries.

Oh wait, you had all those at once?!

Yessir. All at once. Surgery lasted 2-3 hours. I had tubes stitched into my nostrils for 10-12 days post-op. Those were fun to remove. I prayed I wouldn't sneeze while they were in. I don't recall it happening.

My tonsils were so enlarged that when I would lay down they would fall to the back of my throat.

There is a surgical name for the uvula and partial soft palate removal: uvulopalatopharyngoplasty. Doctors call it a UPPP.

The surgeon prescribed liquid lortab for pain. Haha. I might as well have drank battery acid.

The pain was worth it. Between having that surgery and losing 100 lbs I now sleep through the night.

I had a seizure and fell. Hit my head on a large, oak clothing display table in the store I was shopping in. No idea whether it was the table top or the leg/floor stand, as my brain was pretty scrambled and I took a hard hit to the side of the head / back of the ear.

Anyway, it split my right ear in half horizontally, about halfway down the ear. Luckily, there was a great surgeon working the ER that day and they stitched my ear back together. The stitches didn't seem to hurt, but my head was really hurting so hard to tell.

Anyway, stitches came out 3 weeks or so later. But even a number of months after, my swollen ear would turn reddish/purple when I ate spicy foods.

It's all healed up now, although a tiny piece of the internal stitching now sticks out of the top/back of the ear.
Consistency: It's only a virtue if you're not a screw-up.

Some sort of bad norovirus or food poisoning I was lucky enough to get while at a convention.
Simultaneous projectiles from both ends every 10 minutes for 12 hours straight. Couldn't keep any water or liquids down.

Worse than any of the broken bones I've had.

The worst for me was getting pepper sprayed/maced, which sounds pretty low down on the pain scale compared to some of these other posts.

I was with some friends post-college somewhere downtown Austin after midnight. Buddy was DD and pulls up to the bar to pick us up. We all pile in. He backs up and bumps the parked car behind us. The guy gets out, and before we even had a chance to open our doors, he unloads either pepper spray or mace directly into the drivers front window, then again in the drivers rear window hitting me directly in the eyes. I remember stumbling off into an alley, then back into a bar. Cops came. I don't think anything happened. I remember it still hurt the next morning.

I had the UVP3 and in addition fixed my deviated septum and trimmed my nasal turbinates. Shows me not to get a second opinion, the second guy recommended adding the trimming. My wife was not down watching the nasal tubes and packing being removed.
I recommend not doing this at least in one sitting.
But still think shattering jaw and having it wired shut for 6 weeks was worse.

Two things, not sure which was worse. One was a nasty fall from a bike where my arm was broken as though I had a second elbow halfway between my real one and wrist, the other during an absent where my ankle was extended to the extent that I had road rash on top of my foot. Doctor said it would have healed faster if I just broke it instead.

Have had copious broken bones and stitches in my long life but nothing compared to the pain from thrre zaps to the nads from a scorpion and another for good measure to the tender area outside the bung hole. A true come to Jesus moment.

Kidney stones hurt, but mashing the end of my thumb caused such an intense pain that it dropped my blood pressure to 60/40.

I also had a piece of wire impaled through my lower leg in a lawn mower accident……that actually didn't hurt that much, but having the ER doctor pull it out caused my foot to feel like it was set on fire.

Caught my clothes on fire in a chemical explosion, but survived with only two small blisters.

Broke my left arm twice (about a 30 deg angle). Really didn't hurt that much either time……not even when the doctor cut the cast and rebroke it after a week.

Snapped the ACL in my knee, and never had it repaired, but separating my shoulder hurt for about a week.
