Up at 8 this morning (early for me on a weekend) to get Benny up and ready for his Hy-Vee orientation. That's from 9 to noon. Going to order a pizza from Dominos we can pickup after I pick him up at noon. Exciting stuff!
I wish I cared more about Aggie football, but NIL and the transfer portal have just ruined it for me. I was hoping my prediction/modeling work would re-spark an interest, but all it's really sparked an interest in is the final scores of the games. Going back through the 2023 season and using the lines at kickoff of those games, my model is 57.8% against the spread. It stank last weekend though. We'll see how it does today. It says we'll beat ASU by 15.5, FTR.
I had a UNIX Solaris Administrator interview back on 8/7. They were supposed to let me know within a couple of weeks if I would be coming back for a second interview with their leadership. I never heard anything. Got an email yesterday from their recruiter that they were still doing "last minute interviews." Sounds to me like they're trying desperately to hire someone younger, but at what they're offering, I think they're going to find slim pickings. I, on the other hand, am eight years into what turned out to be a bad career change. Not many people will offer a 50-something a chance to get his career back on track, and I'd still be thrilled to get this job... even at what they're offering. It's been a bizarre experience though. I was contacted by them through Indeed on 7/18 and asked to apply for this job. I did, and now I'm getting strung along.
Need to put together an ebay listing for the GPU I can't use. I hate losing money on ebay fees and shipping. Maybe I'll contact my new shop owner friend and see if he wants to buy it.
