I got an email this morning. The agency referred me to the hiring manager for the agricultural economist position. It would be GS-9 for now with a solid roadmap to a 13.

Good time last night with my veterans group.

USAA gives me my direct deposit a day early, so I get to open my presents on Payday Eve.

Over the last month or two, I've noticed 2 different cars sitting outside my place for hours with the lights on and the motor running. I got to Thinking....

Last night I changed my router password and they left within 5 minutes.

  • Went to bed early (9:30). Took awhile to go to sleep, but slept pretty good.
  • Work from home day
  • Crisp diet coke and bowl of cereal for breakfast
  • HEB pork eggrolls for lunch
  • Travel work tonight

Took Benny to the bank this morning and opened a checking account in his name. He's gotten a job at Hy-Vee, a very nice grocery store. They told him that he will start by doing a little bit of everything. The two things he's mentioned are bagging groceries and helping out on the grill. They have a food area off to the side of the store with Italian/Chinese/sushi rolls/etc.

Benny will be saving money for college and for a car. I told him that I can't drive him to his college classes, so he'll be getting a driver's license and used car next summer. For now, he's gotten a job, and when he has his orientation this weekend, he'll be able to provide and account number and routing number for his direct deposit.

Tanya worked her way through college at Appletree. I'm sad that she's not alive to see Benny starting down a such a similar path.

Wife told me the only thing I had to do today was to put the crock in the crock pot at 11:00 and turn it to low. I did that. But should I plug it in? Instructions were not clear. Oh well. I hope I remember to ask her about it when she gets home around dinner time.

I put a roast in the crock pot. I did not feel like cooking again tonight

  • This one would require relocating to Mobile, AL
  • It's an ok city in a state which is basically bottom tier but it's not like SC is much better
  • I need to order iPod parts this afternoon for what's probably the last flash mod I'm going to be doing
  • Bag up more stuff to donate and call it a day

Honestly I'm not sure, but VA and NC are pretty nice in my opinion. I have a lot going on here though in terms of good schools and a house and neighborhood that I love.

Noplace is perfect.

They have a pretty good downtown scene from the way it looks, and it wouldn't be flooded by drunk tourists and C of C students that walked over from their dorms. Notta lotta housing options though, really.

Very good question - the plan would be for me to basically just rent a room from someone, ideally in the area I'd be interested in moving to. Put the house here up for sale in a year if it looks like moving there will really be a thing, and move everyone else over after the end of the school year.

Their other mom works remote and has a townhouse in this part of the city that she bought around a year ago so who knows on her end. She's not exactly thrilled with Charleston but she didn't like San Antonio or Seattle either and her ability to complain about things is unparalleled.

Definitely no perfect place out there. I've been in the Denver area since 2018 and it has its ups and downs. I don't like everything about it but I still like it pretty well here.
