Ants entered the house overnight. When we go a long time without rain, they do this. They are thirsty. Hopefully the scorpions don't do the same

Beautiful sunny day in west GA/east AL. Critters fed/coffee made.
Because a good day starts with good coffee.
Make it a good one in spite of what humankind and the cost of living are up to.

• Took awhile to go to sleep. Slept decent post 12AM.
• Dropped doggo off at groomers
• Sitting next door at Yole's eating breakfast and working to kill time.
• Orientation thing at work today (not for me - I just attend it)
• Should be a fairly quiet afternoon
• Singo at Mas Fajitas tonight

31st wedding anniversary today with Mrs scd88. Hopefully a nice dinner tonight but I feel terrible. Picked up a summer cold.

Office day; happy to not be on the road today.

Storms came through last night around 10 p.m. Lost power at 10:20 p.m. Our road is still closed due to downed trees. Thankfully, power came back on at 8:30 this morning. God Bless those workers that spent the night getting us up and running again.

We will find out in about 5 minutes.

We got my wife's 1998 Toyota RAV repaired. After 27 winters in Utah one front suspension spring actually rusted through from road salt, broke and lacerated the tire. A local 72 year old mechanic said, "that's a good project" and $1,050-odd dollars later the RAV has new front end springs and parts.
Neighbors: "why spend money to repair a 28 year old car?"
My wife: " that's 2 European vacations, 1 East African safari and a Costco membership we just saved" by not buying a new car.
The same Toyota engine/chassis has apparently been featured on those Top Gear unbreakable cars videos. Plus, the engine only has about 120,000 miles on it.
I love my wife. Never one to mistake shiny appearances for value.

The last of my series of PC upgrades was unsuccessful yesterday. I had the local computer shop install my new power supply and video card. It produced three long beeps followed by three short beeps. That's HP beep code for a video problem. They put my old power supply back in. It doesn't technically have enough power to run the new card, but it still started up, there was no beep code, and it produced a BIOS splash screen. To make things even stranger, my old video card worked fine with the new power supply. I wound up leaving my PC at the shop overnight for them to run proper diagnostics on my new power supply. Also started a Nerdery thread.

I need this video card to start playing around with AI, and if I can't get it working on my current PC, I'll have to spend close to $2k for a new one.

Your retirement sounds like my parents'. They drive their cars into the ground, and annual cruise/vacation budget is magnificent.

Two days, but no rebar - 3500 psi with fiber mesh. I'm not parking a fifth wheel or anything on it.

The old driveway was also just very old asphalt - they dug it out with a little stand behind Bobcat track loader. ~1200 sqft all told.

Feels like 113 here in H town!
