I like independently run boutique motels. But the best ones seem to be in mountain towns. Its so nice when you find a really nice one and the staff speaks actual english. Being able to park right in front of your car is great when you need to go back and forth a few times.

I've been in soo many bad roadside chain hotels that are just...depressing, despite decent reviews. Elevators are broke half the time, crappy beds, parking right by the freeway, etc. Just because it has a big hotel chain name on it doesn't mean its good (or safe).

I never knew so many disable people stayed at hotels, yet never a wheel chair or walker insight. Guess they all have mental issues.

What if you're staying in Giddings where (to my knowledge) there are no hotels, only motels? I mean, their Buc-ees isn't even full-sized.

Eww! Bedbugs and love juice everywhere. Avoid the ones with an hourly rate.

Hotels, motels, they are all the same other than price. You are paying to sleep in a bed that someone else slept in the night before, and the night before, and the night before, they probably drooled on the pillow your head is now on or perhaps had it under her ass, they most likely left various bodily fluids that soaked into the mattress, and they may or may not have changed the linens and even if they did there is no guarantee they were washed properly. Have a good trip!

you say that. but, we stopped in Carlsbad, NM at a Holiday Inn. Went to the room they gave us. You could see between the door and door frame to the hallway. The metal door frame was bent where someone clearly pried the door open. Went back to the front desk and said give us a new room.

Did the bed have stalagmites?

When I was in real estate years ago the owner of ABC pest control came to talk to us and said that high end hotels actually have more bedbugs than cheaper places because they had more high end international travelers.
