Never tried peanut butter and a pickle sandwich, and never heard of peanut butter and banana sandwich until hearing Elvis was a fan.

Meatloaf sandwiches were always a treat, primarily because meatloaf was a treat in my house. Both parents worked, so the 1.5 hours needed to prepare and bake a meatloaf just wasn't there. When we had it, knowing we would have sandwiches the next day for lunch was half the fun.

No, but I et more than a few fried Spam sammiches growing up. Equally disgusting, given what they're made of, yet oddly tasty.

I used to eat white bread and ketchup sammiches as a kid. Pretty regular thing while home alone in the summer.

We had an Alsatian (German) variation called pan haus.

Usually eaten pan fried at breakfast, but not unheard of to have leftovers(good luck) for a sandwich at lunch.

I found the following recipe. We used different spices and didn't use a pork roast, we just cooked the bones down from butchering a hog(usually a wild one).

My mom would make us peanut butter and margarine sandwiches to make the peanut butter go farther. She was also big on deviled ham and olive loaf. A couple years ago I picked up a can of deviled ham to see if I remembered its taste correctly. One bite and it went right into the trash.

As an adult, I still make egg salad maybe once every couple of years and salmon patties (not on a sandwich) once or twice a year. I make or buy pimiento cheese all the time and eat it with crackers or tortilla chips.

My great uncle slaughtered a pig every fall, and as the saying goes, we used everything but the squeal." Having removed the brains,and the eyes. We'd boil the head, remove the skull (including the tongue), cook it down, shred the meat, remove the obvious cartilage and then pour everything into bread loaf pans. All the cartilage boils down to gelatin. The whole slurry of meat and gelatin sets into the slicable delicacy that is head cheese. It was always a seasonal treat, and a favored childhood memory.

As far as I remember, no one was eating the eyes, but most of the rest was consumed in one way or the other. I know some family ate the brains, usually scrambled with eggs, but my parents deferred.

So, yes, I've eaten head cheese sandwiches, and have always enjoyed them,
