maybe if you're buying a 100+ pound adult tortoise. I don't have the space for that. I got a price of $385 for a baby. Still a lot of money but they live a long time.

There is a tortoise rescue in TX. Many people get these and forget they live forever and get huge. They also like to dig and cannot eat grass treated w any chemicals or weed treatment pellets.

There used to be a lady in Jersey village that I did lawn care for and she basically had a tortoise farm in her backyard. Hundreds of them all in cinder block enclosures she made. I don't know how they didn't dig out and I don't know if she sold them or was just a turtle hoarder. They were all little too. I'll see if I can track her down

I used to but i guess they're on a different phone. She had a good sized backyard and used cinder blocks stacked two high. Each enclosure was about 6 feet across and maybe 10 feet from front to back. She had about five of those and each one had I'd guess 75-100 tortoises in it? All really small. You could hold two or three in your hand. She then had some other enclosures but those were I guess the breeder tortoises. They were a lot bigger. Idk what she did with them all. Must've been supplying pet stores or something.
