At 1 AM on 7/3/2026 I order a "new" (used) PC off of the Internet. I'm just sick to death of the pitiful performance of my current rig.

At 11 PM on that same date, the current rig stops booting. I get this disk error, run a full check of the disk, the check passes, but when I try to boot to the disk, it's back to this error.

I'll be using my laptop until the new/used PC arrives.

That's a little freaky. How long have you had that setup?

Also, I am curious what would be your equivalent of this:

Your computer knew. Then it killed itself because you cheated on it.

So you're old computer was old and started sucking? So you ordered a new one….

And then your old computer died before the new one arrived?

Wow so strange.

Reminds me of that time that I noticed I was running low on beer and door dashed more beer but I drank my last beer before the order got there and I had to take shots before my beer arrived.

Years ago, my dad had a co-worker who was telling him about her vacation in France. She mentioned that when she was visiting the Eiffel Tower, there was an American tour group there, and she remembered that one kid was complaining to a friend that his mom had made him bring a camera on the trip but he didn't want to take any pictures. To my dad's co-worker, it was just a weird story. He thought it sounded familiar and asked her to describe the kid. She described me. I was the kid complaining about lugging a camera on his European trip.

I had one of these moments recently

About 5 years ago we bought a speaker system for our dance studio and it came with a wired microphone. We have no reason for that as we aren't trying to talk through the system, we just play music.

So I unplugged the microphone and put it in the holder on my car door. Where it sat for 5 years

Last week we were at an awards ceremony and their wireless microphone wasn't connecting to their PA system.

I realize the issue they were having wasn't going to be fixed any time soon. So I looked at my wife, gave a quick smirk and said, you know I still have that mic in my car. She gave a defeated shake of her head and off I went.

Came back with the mic, plugged it in and off we went.

A few people came up to me later and asked why in the world I would have a mic. And my response was "you just never know"

While at A&M I had a bit of a crush on one of my sister's friends (also at A&M). I would run into her in random places - I was going through Houston to Clear Lake and stopped at Subway and she walked in, was in New Orleans one weekend and ran into her, a couple of years later was in Arlington with new girlfriend and she was our waitress one night. Things like that would happen all of the time with other girls too until I met my wife and then never again.

A PC has worked perfectly for eight years. It's just old and slow, so I order a new one. 22 hours later that PC has it's first ever hardware problem?

I think it's pissed off.

I've had the same best friend since middle school. We were Corps roommates, and have remained close all of our adult lives. My kids are a little older than his so the only thing we haven't done much of together are family vacations.

When my kids were 9 & 11 we decided to take them to Disney for Spring Break. When I got to the hotel to check in, I looked across the lobby and saw my best friend with his family. I got our room key and we were literally in the rooms next-door to each other and two of our dinner reservations were the same restaurant and same nights. Typically our spring breaks did not overlap so it was even more a coincidence. What can you say except Disney Magic

My coincidence is that I keep shiat like this for 10+ years in the attic, then closet then garage; boxing and unboxing through two house move only to finally throw it away one week before the first time I actually could ever use it. Every. Single. Damn. Time.

An intern on my project took off a few days with no notice (understandably) because his grandmother died. It was spring break, and I had also had a trip planned to an out of state destination. You can imagine the look on his face when I ran into him and all his college buddies at dinner one night.

My wife and I were dating at the time. My dad had passed years before we ever met and she was asking about him. So I was showing her some old pictures and stuff. My dad was a local radio DJ in San Antonio for years and I have this box of a bunch of old memorabilia from his DJ days. We were looking thru it and she came across this newsletter/pamphlet thing that had a picture of my dad on the front. It was from the late 80's I think. The picture was from a charity event that somehow the Southwestern Bell telephone company was involved in because this newsletter was a corporate newsletter for Southwestern Bell. My wife says, "I know this magazine, my dad used to be in charge of it." My father-in-law worked for SWBell/AT&T for like 40 years. I just happen to flip to the back page, and there on the back it says, "For inquiries, contact: *insert my FIL's name". So on the front of this pamphlet is a picture of my dad, and on the back is the name of my now father-in-law. Weird.

The strangest coincidence I've heard of was from a former Air Force guy that worked at Cannon AFB after retiring. He grew up in Clovis and in high school delivered refrigerators for Sears.

About 30-35 years later after moving back to Clovis he was on the crew that investigated incidents at Melrose Bombing range nearby. They had a report of a training ordnance of some sort that was dropped outside of the range and hit a house. He said when he got there the house seemed vaguely familiar. The woman showed them into the kitchen where the round went through the roof and hit an old Kenmore refrigerator. He figured out it was a fridge he delivered to her many years before as a teenager.

In the mid-2000s, my husband and kids and I were living in Houston and a friend of a friend in our neighborhood had four tickets to an Astros game for the same day that they were not going to be able to use last-minute. This was all pre-social media so they just put out a couple of phone calls to see if anyone wanted them so they didnt go to waste. We ended up taking them and they were fantastic seats on the lower level near home plate.

My kids even made it onto the jumbotron so it was a very exciting day for them!

Later as we were leaving, I checked my phone and saw several missed calls from my sister (I couldn't hear the ringer over the crowd noise during the game.) I was worried because she had tried so many times and didnt leave a voice mail so I immediately called her back.

When she answered, I asked her what was going on and she said she was leaving the Astros game. I said "yeah, so are we!" and she goes "I know. I saw the kids on the jumbotron."

She had just started seeing a guy who was an Astros fan and he randomly decided to take her to a game that day where she saw her niece and nephew on the jumbotron.

Unfortunate day on the farm earlier this week. Nothing went right. First song to play on the radio after hopping in the truck was Don Williams' "Lord have mercy on a country boy".

Later that evening I had to endure a bunch of nonsense from my father (hes got dementia). Went and sat down in the shop, burned a cig and tried to cool down. Had a random playlist of about 400 songs already playing and the first one I hear is Clint Black's "Lights are on, but nobody's home".

I have an uncle who divorced his wife after close to 30 years of marriage. A couple of year later he meet a wonderful woman and they end up marrying. She was an avid antique collector and had a storage shed full of stuff she had bought over the years. They went through it to see if there were any items that they might want to put out in there house. somewhere in that storage shed they found an old school desk, the kind with the inkwell in it, with my uncle's name clearly carved into the top of the desk.
