I believe that was the first bar in Aggieland that I ever drank underage at. It was either Bullwilkle's or The Chicken. Probably The Chicken now that I think about it, anything used to go there, it was a welcome place for 18 year olds who were much more responsible then unlike how they are now.

Is the Baraccuda Bar still in westgate? I never drive by there anymore.

I beleive that the place that is now Cazadores originally opened as Fontana's Restaurant(Italian Food) in the mid 70's and then was replaced by Mama's Pizza, which did well until they decided to move it to Culpepper Plaza, after which proceeded Padre Cafe and then Bullwinkles.

BTW, Kerry's location opened up as Sambo's, a Denny's-like concept. Wings replaced Sambo's.

dallasag, think about it. Snuffers had to compete with the Chicken as the burger joint in town. Koppe Bridge was open too, but not as popular as it is now at the time Snuffers was there. Clearly can see why it didn't take off.

Oh dear lord, if they opened a place called "Sambo's" right across from the University today, I could only imagine the idiot libs going out there to protest the 'corporate backed racism'. Geez.

I went to Snuffer's once while it is was in the graveyard location. The waitress warned me that their burgers were really spicy.

Umm, the only spice I tasted was it being salted out the wazoo!

Putting way too much salt in your burgers is not the unique flavor you want.

Speaking of Kona Ranch... we got this cowboy redneck guy that works in our office... he's a country as you can get.

Anyway, he's telling me how went there and ordered the shrimp and "they put coconut on the shrimp!!!!!!!!!!!" and ruined it.

Well, he's right. Coconut does ruin shrimp.

In between all that and before Bullwinkles and after Mama's Pizza it was, I doubt I am spelling it right, Rockyanos Pizza. Started out at $2.99 for all you can eat Pizza buffet, but dropped the price down to $1.99 before they went out. Actually the pizza was pretty good and I really think it was run by some arm of the mob as it stayed open for about a year and never had many customers.

It was an also an chineese place for a brief point in time.

One other place that I have hardly seen mention of was Frankies Fried Chicken located at Northgate. IMO, that place had some straight up great chicken. Did a serious business on Sunday nights when the dorms had to eat out.

3C BBQ...fantastic chicken fried steak and better BBQ than Tom's in the late 80's.

I thought high prices and crappy food had to do with Texadelphia closing?

Texadelphia sandwiches weren't that good. Service was poor every time I went there too.

The new McAlister's on University is way better than Texadelphia.

I remember going through the drive thru late at night after a party and ordering 15-20 of those between my roommate and me.

from what i understand the church right behind it didnt like the fact they sold alcohol, so they somehow got it shut down...and then Logans opened. I am sure they wish Texadelphia was still there.

How was the service bad, you ordered at the front then when you heard your name, you went up and got your food....

Can anyone name the resturant that, in about 1989, was where Pancho's was and now Los Cucos is today? It is in the same building as Swenson's and Benigan's. I can not remember the name for the life of me.

Ugghhhh! My roommate dragged me there because they had all you can eat fried chicken and chicken fried steak... that was the most horrible eating experience I've had at a restaurant.

And Archies was where Double Dave's is on Harvey.

There used to be a Godfather's Pizza next to Swenson's. I think it is where the Dollar store is now.

Urban myth.

How could they use their sway to close down Texadelphia, then have Logan's open up immediately after?

I remember that I took a date one time to Marcos over on University. She was a hottie too, but kind of a thumper. The sexcapades didn't quite work out as I had been planning afterwards, but that turned out to be a good thing because I ate way too much. Last I heard from a buddy who still talks to her once in a while, she is now a fattie stay at home mom in Dallas and her husband is pretty miserable with her.

Dodged the bullet there! *whew*

Ahh the memories.

There used to be a Marcos in Katy on Mason Rd. but I think it closed too. The food was not too bad there.

Considering how much the Baptist Center had to invest to get their ministry set up right in the middle of where everyone is, I don't think they'd be in a hurry to run everyone off...

Anyone remember JD Wells? I spent almost every Friday and Saturday night there as a freshman. Hot girls everywhere, and even though I was only 18 I never had a problem buying pitchers of beer there.

EDIT: And what's this I hear about Kona Ranch being replaced by something else? Kona Ranch had decent food, and their bread and butter was awesome.
