Never seen that before. Not cool. Was in my lap and I felt her shaking. Put her down and she acted like she had an injured leg then fell over.

Wife has her at emergency vet now

Scary stuff - had it happen to two of my dogs over the years. How old is your pup?

It's really scary, but hopefully not a big deal. One night our pup randomly darted into a wall and started convulsing. Emergency vet checked him out and he was ok. Eventually they became frequent enough she put him on medicine and it's managed it fine - hopefully your experience is similar!

Good that your pup is younger; vets can generally put them on seizure meds that ameliorate a lot of symptoms. Dog just won't be able to drive.

My dog isn't smart enough to drive, but they're going to have to pry the steering wheel out of Toonces' cold, dead paws.

Diagnosis is "Idiopathic seizure" with no obvious cause

Also I admit up until a year ago when we got this stupid dog that I didn't want, I likely would have replied to this thread with "leave it at the vet and get a new one." Dumbass dog won me over.

Our GSP had his first seizure 4 years ago at 3 yrs old. He would have one every 8 months or so. As long as they were spaced out like that and not "severe" they didn't put him on meds. We decided to change his diet from "high quality" dry kibble to Ollie's fresh and he hasn't had a seizure in almost 2 years plus his digestion system is working way more efficiently and his bloodwork is way way way better. He had low red blood cell counts. No so anymore..all after we improved his diet.

My wife's corgi-dachshund mix had one last year when I picked her up to go to the bed. Then she went limp and evacuated her bowels and I thought she died in my hands. I started trying a version of CPR compressions and she snapped out of it after about a minute. Scared the **** out of me and my wife was a mess. Took her to the vet and they said she has a collapsing trachea and wasn't getting enough air.

She was 14 (now 15) and is too old for any procedures. Still energetic and full appetite and its never happened again although she definitely gets coughing fits. Figured as long as she seems happy we will let it ride. Old gal is probably blind, deaf and creaky in the joints but she's over there snoring in a big bed so we're happy to have her

We took our pup to the vet one day for some testing and a follow-up and about an hour after we got home she went into a seizure. No cause could be determined and she hasn't had any issues since. I hope your path forward is the same.

Your pup isn't on one of the multi parasite meds are they?

Our dog was on Trifexis for years but he was at the bottom of his weight/dose group. He dropped a few pounds and the Trifexis started giving him seizures. Looked on the internet and found it wasn't uncommon.

My vet said that for some reason the flea meds in it can cause seizures. We switched him to heart guard and he was fine for the rest of his life.

I've noticed the ads for the new Quattro meds has a disclaimer that it can cause seizures in some dogs.

Hope it's a one off for your pup. Scary as hell. Ours had two before I made the connection.

My dog is my Designated Driver. We would have to risk the seizures.

So in a way, Dog is your copilot?

No medication and Muenster Natural Dogfood. No issues since the original seizure. Hopefully just a one time thing
