How do you red-blooded Americans like your patties?

Smaller than the bun?

Or

Sticking out past the bun?

if its a poor slab of meat, you need to be able to drown out the taste with all the fixins that only the bun can contain.

Best ones are the kind they sell at Readfield Meats in Bryan. Gimme one of those and I won't care if it sticks out past the bun or not.

So, how did these turn out?
Recipe sounds good, but the temp/baking time seems like the buns come out burnt. Or maybe just the top edges?

I don't know how they did it but they did it well. 1 net carb slider and you can't tell the difference. I have 2 - 4 ounce patties. 1 with cheese and mayo and the other with mustard, pickles and jalapeños. Get a crispy edge on the patties and they're perfect.

Everyone liked them a lot. To me, they were "okay".

Next time (yes, the family wants there to be a nex time), I won't sprinkle the shredded cheese when they go into the oven. Instead, I'll add the cheese just toward the end of the cooking time.

Also, this time I used a timer and stopped paying attention. Indeed, the buns & shredded cheese were a little too brown on top (but my family claims they were good). Next time, I'll probably put foil on top and with approx 5 mins remaining (IMO), I'll remove the foil and add the shredded cheese.

Also, I think I'd add a little more chopped onion, and probably zero of the sweet gherkins. Maybe I'll try chopped dill pickles (but nobody in my fam likes pickles, at all).

My go to quickie burger:

- onion soup mixture
- dash of wrchistershisierisher

Anyone else have a good quickie?

Also have gone meat only and add smash seasoning while grilling. Good but not great.

Onion soup mixed into ground meat for a burger is effing disgusting.

A perfect quick burger needs nothing more than beef, salt and pepper. Its already a quick meal unless you eff it up like you or go all in and grind your own beef

I have a gas grill. To what temp do you pre-heat before you grill burgers? 350F? I did it with 450 or so and it did not turn out too well. How long? 3 minutes per side/

Bubba Burger for now.

If you want to cook burgers on a gas grill, the best thing you can do is to get a cast-iron griddle to put on the grates. You'll get a better sear and it prevents flareups from the grease as well as undesirable flavor from the burning fat. You can always give the burgers a quick kiss on the grates once they're done if you want a little taste of the fire.

Damn near anywhere you can get Bubba burgers you would be able to buy 80/20 ground beef. Do that instead .

You are bordering on making a frikadellen. That don't go around these parts, Kraut.

Do you mean something like this?

I wasn't using anything, just directly on the grate.

I used to grill burgers a looong time ago and they used to turn into hockey pucks. So I gave up. Then youtube came and I was able to grill them better.

What temperature do you suggest for pre-heat?

I just picked Bubba to keep the unknowns to a minimum. Once I master that I will get the 80/20.
