Happy Fathers Day to all of you!

-Awake early. Out the door to head to the cemetery to visit my dad.
-was watching the Tiky Tok yesterday evening and somehow came across a video of the "Dead Dad's Club", then proceeded to see one every other video. Yet still continued to watch.
-Will pick up breakfast for my hubs on the way home.
-Will head to Waco about 9AM. My kiddo is going to Baylor Softball camp so will spend the next 3 nights there. My mommas is going too.
- Dr. Pepper museum - we have never been so will check it out.
-Try to figure out how I can fit some work in.

Have a great day.

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there. I get to mow the front yard, shower, and head down to Houston to take my dad to lunch.

  • Getting my body clock back on schedule
  • Small tear in my ear drum confirmed. Drops and Cepro for me!
  • One of my Africa mounts fell off the wall when we were gone. Minor damage to a red lechewe
  • Happy Father's Day fellow dads! Remember, there are worse dads out there……

Up early when wife took the dogs for walks.

Gonna buy a plant of some sort and take it by my dad's grave. I don't visit it often because he's not there but it's nice to leave a reminder.

Picking up tacos in Bryan. An oldster in the restaurant has her ringer on and got a call. Loudly. Haven't heard "Hello, Moto!" in awhile but now I have.

Had Father's Day meal last night at a Mexican restaurant we had not yet visited. It was excellent. And the decor was good!

The only thing fathers really want on Father's Day is the thing that made them a father. Your mother probably only wanted a back rub.

The more you know.

Alaska allergies -> from head -> chest -> ears. Knew an infection was coming on and made an appt for Tuesday. Ear drum blew out after we were already in San Antonio. Should have taken some allergy drugs, I guess.

Shouldn't it be San Antonio de Bexar? I thought that was a prerequisite for any B-1 post.

Bruce the Bat Dog makes his debut for the Washington Nationals!!

Quote:

WASHINGTON (AP) The dog days of summer arrived Saturday at Nationals Park.

Bruce, a 21-month-old golden retriever, fetched a bat during a ceremony Saturday before the Washington Nationals' 4-3 loss to the Miami Marlins as part of a Pups in the Park promotion. He retrieved bats the last two seasons with the Rochester Red Wings, Washington's Triple-A affiliate.

Bruce, wearing a bandana with an "MLB debut" patch he received when he arrived at the stadium, was presented a commemorative bat. He then took a circuitous route from the dugout toward first base after Nationals reliever Zach Brzykcy dropped the bat in foul territory before the bat dog collected his quarry to the delight of a crowd wowed by his work and enthusiasm.

I don't know about their logo. Seems like they should be having to pay a licensing fee to Walgreen's every year.

- Got home to Dallas from Fredericksburg to see my neighbor's new dachshund puppy!
- Gonna take a nap and then cool my heels until my haircut on Tuesday.
- Had such a fun, energy draining weekend.

So you're done with Iowa? I thought you were spending the summer there.

I am spending the summer there, you're right. I flew to Austin on Thursday for a weekend in Fredericksburg with friends and came to Dallas today to get my hair cut and because it was cheaper to fly back from here.

Lunch w my folks and helped Dad with some computed stuff.

The Safari offiicials cut the race short due to dangerous high water conditions between Victoria and Seadrift. All boats that haven't gone past the swinging bridge have to pull out there. A few got stuck below there. A few made it to Seadrift. My team pulled out at Gonzales due to a medical issue and anticipated high water levels.

Just a man and his dog.

Father's Day has been relaxing so far. We just got back from our summer vacation which was exhausting so needed a day to rest.

Single fatherhood hits different. I don't have a spouse or partner that posts celebrating me or helping getting gifts from the kids. But every year my friends step up and send me lots of love and affirmation through texts.

For me it doesn't feel like a day to celebrate myself. I usually reflect on how may life is with my kids and times I enjoyed with my father. All thru the lens of gratitude.

I will say that when I became a single dad I found that there's not a lot of support or compassion for those fathers. Especially when compared to single moms. Not looking for sympathy just have always found that strange.

I'm also a single dad, and this is the absolute truth. People do not want to hear about how expensive the world is for a "single parent;" only how rough it is for single moms. Benny's best friend lives with a single mom. Apparently the dad is loaded. She doesn't work. Has a kid in middle school and two in high school, and child support pays all her bills.

your dad's cemetery site is not too far from where my Mom & Dad are buried my folks have the Veteran headstones (mom and dad were both in WW2) over by the pond as you walk in and we also have the bench under the cypress tree

I am going to stop by this Saturday on his 109th birthday

No, the start of the conversation went something like:

Dad: Hi
Claude!: Happy Father's Day
Dad: Well, you're the one who caused it.
Claude!: No, that was [older brother]; I was just an additional symptom

Got a ton of supportive texts from friends, and my kiddo made me a bunch of gifts. I'm fortunate that he's with me over the summer so we get to spend Father's Day together.

  • Called up my dad a little while ago and listened to him go on about all the stuff he has going on
  • Since I'm way over here that's really about the best I can do
  • I caught up with someone from game night / church who I haven't seen in a while, went out and got lunch and walked around in Hampton Park while she talked about history and stuff
  • Good timing because the person who I think of as my best friend got back together with her stupid ex b/f from last fall, and she's the type who when she's partnered just drops off the edge of the world for a while
  • Angel is all grouchy and grumbly from people walking a couple of great danes nearby
  • I'm thinking girl those dogs would eat you in three bites!

wheee sunday!
