Anyone have any experience here? My son got PSA option or encouraged to explore this if he wants to do engineering (ELEN). He is looking into this and specifically the Blinn Brennan option as we live in CA and he would need housing. Also, bring about 45mins from campus, he would feel more a part of TAMU. He really wants to be at TAMU, but I'm concerned that he won't like being there and I'm concerned it be demotivating, then he doesn't do well, etc, etc. He has scholarship offers from another Top20 ELEN program, so this isn't his only option. Also, the other big school would put him directly into their ELEN program. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

What are the other schools he got into? What are their football and basketball teams ranked?

In my humble opinion if it's a good school, he's directly in the program, and the overall cost is lower due to tuition/scholarships then I think it is the logical choice. I get there's a lot of emotion involved but once there and involved wherever that is a lot of that will go away.

You are also going to get a lot of sarcastic responses due to the nature of the general board.

"Co-enrollment" sounds a lot like Blinn Team. So you pay for an empty dorm room in "Brennan" and a private dorm or apartment in College Station, then he drives forty-five minutes to classes for his freshman year? Sounds like a great option. Is it still possible for him to get into engineering this summer if he does not choose this? Screw that chance, jump on this. Does he get a sports pass and aggiebucks?

I agree frankly. But, I'm bummed for him as I know he wants to be an Aggie as we've shared a lot of moments together at Aggieland, games, etc. I'm bummed for him and the fact that chapter will be done. He'll be into his school, as he should.

Can he do the engineering academy at Blinn Bryan? That might be a better fit. If not, PSA could be a good option.

Brenham is a nice town, and the Blinn campus there is pretty nice. It wouldn't be a bad option, and Brenham being small, it might help keep him focused on school and make the transition to college easier. As far as cost, make sure to compare the cost of Blinn and 2-3 years at A&M versus the cost of the other school minus scholarship. They might be the same because Blinn is pretty cheap.

Just need to watch out for the long Raisin' Caine's line at Exit 260. Keep hard in the left lane.

My son was not accepted directly into A&M - he was devastated. He was accepted into PSA and spent a year at TAMU-CC, made the grades, and then transferred to the main campus in College Station. Looking back, he believes he would've flunked out had he been accepted right out of high school. PSA was a blessing.

No, that's Blinn TEAB which they didn't offer. PSA doesn't have engineering option, so doesn't work.

If your son is set on electrical engineering, he shouldn't worry too much about ETAM. It's a terrible process, but electrical is very doable to get into. About 90% of first choice applicants got in last cycle, and about a quarter of the kids in electrical picked it as their second choice.

I'd be pumped if my kids had to do a pre college year at A&M CC. That coastal bend fishing is lit.

This doesn't help the OP in any way at all. So… whatever.

Unless he is also enrolled and taking classes at A&M, I don't think he'd feel like part of A&M from Brenham at all.

What does PSA stand for/mean?

Ah, gotcha. If he really wants to be an Aggie, I don't think it's a bad choice. If it's possible, maybe do a visit to Brenham and the Blinn campus to see if he likes it. I will say it's much nicer than Bryan campus because it's the original home campus.
