Any daughters free on Friday for Valentines Day? Looking to make plans. I'm 5'9.5 (I don't round up because I'm a man of integrity) and celibate as of two weeks ago. I recently picked up a communications minor to better understand women and I'm hoping to apply what I have learned in the classroom in real life. Well, now I feel ****ty. Sorry OP.

Keep your head up and focus on yourself right now. You aren't in a place to date, which I understand might be hard to hear. My sister ('98) once told me you have to love yourself before you can love anyone else. A better you makes you better for everyone else (family, friends, a partner).

Depression is an insidious little evil. I think it would really do you well to find a doctor or therapist to help you work through some of this. There are resources out there but they aren't always easy to find. Cognitive Behaviorial Therapy or DBT might be a good place to start.

Introduce yourself to your professors. If it is too much to just drop by their office then email them and make an appointment during their office hours. You might not make a connection, but get used to meeting new people.

Do you have any interests? Get some. Even if you don't, there are 1,300 student organizations at A&M for all kinds of stupid things. Find one or three and join, they arn't hard. Many are service based so if you're volunteering not only are you doing good but you'll be around people and get to know them without pressure. You're never going to have the opportunity to meet as many people or as many different kinds of people as you do now.

As for dating, don't yet. Distract yourself from the thoughts that a girlfriend will make everything better. Then when you are ready, and I can't stress this enough for you, lower your expectations. Or join a religion or a different cult that will pick a wife for you.
