On Thursday February 13, 2025, the Texas A&M College of Engineering will be hosting this year's Trotter Prize & Lecture awardees, in conversation about the big questions about science, artificial intelligence, and the human mind. This year's awardees are:

  • Dr. Richard Dawkins is a world-renowned evolutionary biologist, and best-selling author, celebrated globally for his honest critique of religion and tradition and his push for critical thinking on the big questions of science and philosophy. His bestselling books include The Selfish Gene, The Blind Watchmaker, and The God Delusion. Dr. Dawkins' talk is entitled "The Greatest Idea Ever."
  • Dr. Rosalind Picard is the Grover M. Hermann Professor at MIT's Media Lab and a pioneer in affective computing. She founded the Affective Computing research group and co-founded two companies: Affectiva, which developed emotion AI technologies, and Empatica, which created an FDA-cleared smart watch to monitor seizures. Picard's work in image and video analysis paved the way for advancements in human-computer interaction and wearable computing. Dr. Picard's talk is entitled "Are We More than Machines?"

These two great scholars will be speaking on Thursday evening, February 13, 7pm, at Rudder Auditorium. The entire campus and extended Aggie community is invited to attend! Tickets are free, but limited, and can be obtained here.

The Trotter Lectures seek to reveal connections between science, philosophy, and religion. You can learn more about the Trotter Prize here.
