And good sandwiches.

Crappy flavored tea though.

That was my favorite place in college to eat a late lunch and sit and talk with someone for a long time.

I used to make the twice baked pototes in the morning but I can't really remember exactly what went into them.

We would bake a huge batch of potatoes, maybe 30 or 40, then scoop out the inside into a huge vat and add butter, etc and mix it all together. Then we'd scoop the mixture back into the potatoe skins and top them off and re-bake.

save: nope but I have been there. pretty seedy place but cheap, strong drinks.

The soup at the Grapevine was also excellent. It was a cool place to work plus we got to eat pretty much what we wanted.

I saw someone working in this building last week and I believe the "for sale" signs were gone. Perhaps it is coming back or opening as something else.

Very cool CRC!

I was one of those that came in at the crack of dawn and did all the prep work and worked the lunch shift.

Wasn't her name Patty or something?

They'd go overboard with cheese on their salads... much like Koppe Bridge does with the mayo on their sandwiches.

I know they were looking at moving the JP court over there earlier this year. Might be what it is.

Dallas,

My roommate used to do the morning twiced bake work the last year or so before it closed. I asked about the recipe once and he said he couldn't make just one servering but if you needed about 50 or so, he could pull it off.

BTW, The Grapevine's table are now in a coffee shop called Java Joy in CS.

I miss that place. I know it sounds gay for a guy to like their twice baked potatoes and dinner salads, but they made for a man sized meal. I was bummed when they closed. They had great sangria, too.

I even posted on www.chowhounds.com to try to find someplace in Dallas that had twice baked potatoes but to no avail.

I drive by that place every day on my way to work...so sad it's not longer open. They had the best salads.

My brother worked there for quite awhile...until it closed. He used to bring home some chocolate dipped strawberries...very, very good.

An89 - make your own. They aren't hard. Best thing my wife does is use about 10 potatoes at one cooking and then freeze a majority of them (without the cheese, of course).

It was kinda hidden. Off of Texas, near La Quinta if I remember correctly.

I'm starving for those twice baked potatoes now. I think I'll try to make them tonight!

Twice Baked Potato
Ingredients
4 potatoes (2 pounds), c. sour cream, cc butter, 1/3 c. bacon bits,
2 T bacon bits for topping, 2 ounces Swiss, 4 ounces Munster

Recipe
If you leave out the bacon bits, you will need to add salt.
Always prepare the potatoes at least 12 hours ahead of time.
Wash potatoes and place in 500 degree oven. Do not wrap them in foil.
This allows the skin to harden so they can be scooped out. Bake for 1 hour.
Fry 8 slices of bacon 6 for the potatoes and 2 for the toppings.
Chop this into very small pieces.
Put the Swiss in a food processor and chop for 6-8 seconds.
Add the Munster and chop till it is a little smaller than peas.

Take a toothpick and check the potatoes for doneness.
Steam should come out of the hole.
Cut off the tops, making a hole big enough so you can scoop them out with a spoon.
Put the insides in a mixing bowl with butter, sour cream, and bacon bits.
After mixing put this back in the skins.
Top with cheese and bacon and refrigerate for 12 hours to 5 days.
Reheat at 350 degrees for 35-50 minutes

I hoped it was useful, but I thought I might actually get roasted.....Found the Sangria and Dressing recipes as well.

2 teaspoons Coleman dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon celery seed
