Whole situation could have been avoided by skipping the stupid gender reveal. Have the sonogram, find out, then call your folks and say "we are having a girl". It isn't that hard.

Wife looks like and acts like a complete B.

Good southern girl would've good naturedly laughed while m-in-law was hugging son then positioned herself to hug m-in-law next and then moved on with her life.

Women. Especially northern US or most European women.

This is exactly what happens with a helicopter mom. I'm sure she was extremely protective of her baby boy for many, many years. I'd feel bad too if I was the mother to be.
