At least we'll be able to pocket that $7.50 to fight inflation. Oh wait.
The annual $7.50 safety inspection fee has been replaced with the Inspection Program Replacement Fee, which is added to the vehicle registration fee. GD morons.

oh please. I know of at least 3 inspection shops which the inspection is "hey, stop by the shop for your inspection. I've already got the paperwork filled out and ready to go for you".gabehcoud said:

So will we still have to affix a sticker that will eventually expire?

Why is the inspection fee now going to the state for doing nothing?

Because no taxing authority EVER gives up a tax once they start to collect it.

I live in WA now after living for years in VA where at least when I lived there had emission and safety checks and I must say I miss it immensely. So many missing head, tail, brake, blinker lights, misaligned lights, unsafe junkers everywhere and the bad apples spewing blue burning oil across the highways. It is just horrible.

I tried to tie this into the climate change party, but can't do it.
There are 11 red counties that still require emissions testing - Brazoria, Collin, Ellis, Galveston, Johnson, Kaufman, Montgomery, Parker, Rockwall, Tarrant & Williamson.
There are 5 blue counties that still require emissions testing - Dallas, El Paso, Fort Bend, Harris & Travis.
