For prospective students that aren't "automatic" based on class rank.
My daughter is just outside top 10% with solid SAT scores, extracurricular activities etc.
She's applied to A&M, Tech, Baylor, Arkansas, Miss State, Oklahoma, U Dallas and several other smaller Catholic universities.
Every other college has advised on admission (accepted) and given various scholarships months ago.
But no response from a&M. Still "pending."
I understand that A&M may be more "competitive" but it's odd that they take so long to say yes or no. I suppose she's on the bubble and they wait to see the rate of kids that accept and enroll?
But it puts them at a pretty big disadvantage when she's getting scholarships and admission to honors college at, Tech or Arkansas and is starting the process to sign up for dorms and roommates.
If we find out she got into A&M months from now it's highly unlikely she'd be moved to go given how far ahead she is with the process with other comparable schools.
It just seems like there has got to be a better way to make quicker decisions.
