If you are heading north towards Santa Fe, Range Cafe north of town in Bernalillo is pretty good.
In before Los Pollos Hermanos.

It's a chain and they have one in Lubbock, where I live.

My friend tried this place. Said it's in an incredibly sketchy neighborhood and wasn't even good

Padilla's and El Patio are two of the best New Mex Mex places in the city. I read Kelly's did not survive long post covid, RIP.

On a side note, we were passing through ABQ on the way from CA to TX once, stayed at a random hotel off the interstate and the next morning we got up and were just looking for a breakfast place before continuing the ride home. We ended up at a place called "Twister's" for breakfast burritos. It turned out that it was the filming location for Los Pollos Hermanos. I was aware of Breaking Bad but hadn't watched the show yet.

I travelled to ABQ about once a month over a 2-year period and found the food to be pretty lackluster. I wasn't much a fan of "New Mexican" Mexican food. They tend to drown the plate with a green or red chili, which completely overpowers the rest of the flavors.
The best places have already been mentioned, but here's another suggestion. It's not ABQ food, but Frank's Chicken & Waffles is fantastic. Your car may be broken into and you might get mugged inside the place, but it's the best chicken & waffles I've ever had. Frank's Famous Chicken & Waffles
