Had a weekend church youth retreat. Today is the War Department's birthday. So that means La Costenita for lunch (those who know…know), busy week with an out of town trip.

-We close on the new house in exactly one month!

-Pay off my car or upgrade...that is the question on my mind

• Brass quintet recital this evening
• I am very, very behind on writing a string quartet
• I still don't know how to respond to people who thank me for my military service

- Woke up a billion times in the night. Still only "slept" four hours. Neat.

- Cold as hell and I hate it. Think imma do a coffee and donut run. Something bout cold days and scalding black coffee that just go together. Must be from my super blue collar days.

I just thank them back if it just a more casual tone from them or a "It was a pleasure to serve" with a nod if it was in earnest. Used to trip me up too but settled on this approach finally and it's worked out the few times I've needed it since.

- Slept like hell, but gave it my best.
- Curtain rod fell out of the wall this morning. SOMEBODY didn't use anchors (that'd be me).
- BIL took responsibility and is going to put it back up for me. I could cry. He just assumed it was his job to do and I didn't have to even ask. That's what taking care of someone looks like to me.
- Hopefully the NEW anchors I picked up meet his specs bc the old ones I already had did not. They were too beefy.

Had a friend buy a bunch of furniture on credit card as well as paid for new homeowners insurance and something else like 3 days before closing. As it was their only credit card and had a low limit, it screwed up their closing and they had to scramble to pay it all off without taking out a loan to pay it off.
