A real drag to be able to go outside during the summer. So weird.
Weren't they at ACL this year?xhippieliberalx said:
I'm doubtful many here would know them, but it's possible! It's a band called Pretty Lights. The project was originally a DJ who would incorporate a drummer, and over the years evolved into a full band setup. So they're basically an electronic jam band.
The main guy took a long hiatus from the whole scene around 2018 to get clean, and recently came back last year, so the fan base has been crazy about following them around. No show is ever the same, they play 2-3 nights each city they go to, and they play for 3-4 hours each night. It's heavily sample-based, so it's really cool to see what songs they mix in while they're playing their own tracks too.
If anyone has any interest in it, they stream every live show for free on twitch, and one of the fans uploads each show to their youtube - hammyt88 is the username. You can watch any show that's happened since August of 2023 when they started playing again.
I was there Week 1. Missed Pretty Lights in favor of Dua Lipa (who was great). I'll have to check out their version of Texas Sun. I was fortunate enough to catch most of Khruangbin's set, including Texas Sun with Leon Bridges. Did you see Chappell Roan? Not really my style of music, but was pretty awesome seeing how into it the crowd was.xhippieliberalx said:
They were absolutely there this year! They were placed against Dua Lipa both weekends, I was there weekend 2. They did a really cool remix of Texas Sun by Khruangbin you might like

Another y'all might like is a mix called Blue Skies Both Ways - they mix Willie Nelson's Blue Skies with Pink Floyd's Goodbye Blue Skies (among several other samples like Bob Dylan, Talking Heads, Post Malone, etc)

The live streams of their shows are so worth the watch too if you end up liking the music. They have an entire team dedicated to the graphics/production of just the stream. All shows are on youtube, although most of them are 3.5hrs. Their festival sets are much shorter.
