It's time to talk Halloween Candy! Now is you chance to brag or talk **** on other people's offerings

  • What are you handing out? Minis, Fun Size, Full Size?
  • Any specific brand or variety?
  • Anyone going for circus peanuts?
  • What about bags of chips? You can get a 50 pack of takis or lay variety for pretty cheap.
  • Anyone handing out non candy options? Maybe we have some fans of Chick Tracks out there.

Do you have rules for who you hand out to like only neighborhood kids, must be in a costume, age limit, etc?

What about moms and dads? They getting anything at your house?

-normally only pass out candy I would want to eat.
-had sticker shock last week at heb so got a Costco bag of whatever.
-no rules for candy and age. I don't care if you're in hs and with your friends. At least they are off screens and having a good time together in real life. These kids need that
-no drinks for adults but normally have the tv out if there is a game on.
Edit to add my kids are 9 and 13 and both will be dressed up and going door to door.

IMO, full size *IS* the fun size. I sometimes wonder what moron thought of a tiny candybar and decided it would be "fun".

We put the candy (snickers, reeses, milky way, etc) on a table at the sidewalk, along with non-candy items (bouncy balls, plastic slinkys, etc Amazon sells big bags of those). Sometimes kids prefer the non-candy items.

We decorate the table with lights, fun/spooky lighting, fog machine, etc and then my wife and I sit nearby with Halloween music playing while having drinks.

We get to see the kids, their costumes, visit with neighbors a tad, monitor to make sure no hooligans take too much (all) the candy/treats, and visit with each other.

Thinking about having a cooler of canned beers available for adults who want some. Haven't decided on that yet.

I bought some "floating" candles that I'm going to hang outside this year around the table.

I'd like to setup the outdoor projector with a scary movie playing, but the rest of my family wants to keep the whole thing friendly for young kids.

play hocus pocus or something like that.

OR

Go in a completely different direction and show a movie like 1995's Species starring Natasha Henstridge. Quite the engaging sci fi/scary movie for 12 year old nai06 and not that scary. IYKYK

Hocus Pocus is a good idea. Thx. I only saw the original Hocus Pocus last year. Same for Sound of Music. IIRC, I stayed awake for both...but not certain. In some many ways, I'm way behind, lol.

The other movie...I'll have to look up that one because it's unfamiliar to me.

I hand out whatever I want to be eating for the next week because I almost never get trick or treaters. That means it's normally a bag of full-size Reese's cups.

2 giant bags from Costco, one chocolate, one non chocolate. A couple bags of Reese's bats, a bag of those green Twix and Hershey's cookies and cream fangs as back up.

4 boxes of full sized candy bars from Costco. Usually get around 75-90 kids. Somehow…I DON'T HOW???, there will be a distortional amount of Reeses Peanut Butter cups left.

I got bags of Three Musketeers and Almond Joys. All the lights will be off at my house except in my bedroom where I'll be surfing sports, watching TV and snacking down on the aforementioned delicious chocolate candy bars.

Heard from a few that the price of candy is too high. They will keep the porch light off.

Let me see here, the bags are right by the kitchen bar…..
  • 155 pieces of Hershey's various chocolates
  • 270 pieces of Jolly Rancher/Twizzlers/ mix
  • 120 pieces of Sweet Tarts/Nerds mix

Maybe that will be enough

Once again we are going to spend a dumb amount of money on candy. I did the first pick up at Sam's Club yesterday. I think it was just over $400. It's a mix of full size bars, skittles, starburst, cotton candy, etc. I also got a few 12 packs of bubble tape. I didn't realize they still made it but it was big hit last year. According to the kids, "It's so vintage" .

I still need to pick up a few bags of funsize at the store in case we go over my estimate. I planned for 450 but it's always hard to gauge how many kids show up. We live on a small street and have the city shut it down for the night so kids can run up and down without any cars. One of my neighbors made a FB page for the street last year and has been hyping it up for the last month
