I think we're up to the 12th edition of this thing, so it's a firmly entrenched tradition. If you want to join in our little madcap General Board Secret Santa Gift Exchange, SIGN UP HERE.

Rules from the previous years still apply (and are still shamelessly stolen from the previous year's thread):

I hope all of you past participants will join up again. If you've never done this with us, you should. It's a lot of fun, and your fellow GBers have, perhaps surprisingly, proven to be very generous and thoughtful gift-givers over the years. You can review last year's thread HERE if you're curious how it goes.

The basics will be the same as always:

The gift limit is $50. Sign-up deadline is November 18, in time for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Names will be drawn the next day. Gifts are to be delivered by December 16, hopefully before people start to travel, so ship in plenty of time! If necessary, we can adjust as issues come up.

Some tips and a few changes:

- We want everyone to feel included and welcome, however after a small number of "flakes" we need to make sure all participants are really in it. To that end, your Elfster name must identify with your TexAgs handle and you must verify your identity here on this thread as well. You need to have a posting history, too, so we know who you are and all that. Your name on Elster does not have to include your real name, for clarity.

- Sign up with a valid email address that you'll check on occasion. I may need to get in touch.

- That said, if you're a lurker and want to join in, reach out and we'll talk.

- Anyone impersonating another poster (yes, this has happened) will be banned.

- Fill out your wish list! You can post a link to almost any site and it will get added to the list. The wish list isn't just good for shopping, but for giving your Santa an idea of the types of stuff you like. I've already noticed a couple of elves updating their list for this year's exchange

- Use the anonymous interface to talk to your selectee, and to other GBers. Some people in the past have entertained us by asking zany questions over the course of the exchange.

- If you don't normally, post on the GB. Say hello in the Good Morning thread. Offer an opinion on the suitability of "toucan" as the name for your child. Getting to know everyone will help you have a great exchange.

- When you get your gift, post pics in this thread and tell us about it.

- Be excellent to each other. Be thoughtful in your gift selection. Don't flake or be a jerk. If you have a problem or need to back out or will be delayed in shipping or whatever, just tell me and I'll handle it. Be nice.

If you have any questions or need any help, give me a shout by PM, Elfster, or via semaphore. Owls are too unreliable, though, so skip that.

I feel like it was just yesterday that I forgot to sign up for the last one. Time is flying. The world is spinning at a higher rate around the sun as I age.

*deleted weird comment I don't remember posting

Anyway. Merry Christmas, everyone.

That's part of the reason I posted it early - I was getting pinged that a couple of folks were adding to their lists.

if you're really lucky you get a Japanese Santa. Except over there they call her 'Anual gift man' and she lives on the moon.

Dear fellow innernets,

Here's a little about me in case you don't know. You will see these things reflected in my wish list, but here's some context that you certainly didn't ask for.

- Henry Cavill is my Roman Empire. I'm glad he's so hot because his acting is ..not.

- Am collecting 6 new funny cat tshirts before next August to wear to the kid's camp I volunteer with. The kids loved them this year so now I have to keep it up.

- I've colored in coloring books since college. I like the ones with really big spaces to color, like I'm a 3 year old. Those adult ones stress me out with all their tiny details. I have PLENTY of markers and crayons, though.

- I've been working on one of those emergency go-bags in case the grid fails and anarchy ensues, which is why you'll see survival things on my list. There's a crossover with my recent hiking / outdoorsy adventures, so some of those things serve as a twofer.

- My favorite thing to do is nothing and my second favorite thing to do is to tell other people what to do.

- I finish tubes of lip balm before losing them - a superpower, if you will. I finish about 4-5 / year. I'm truly amazing.

- I'm also set on glass dongs, thanks. Have received an abundance over the years and I'm still not sure what to do with them. (Maybe turn them into trophy's and give them to my friends?)

This ended up feeling like a dating profile. Meh.
