Looking in to an Alaskan vacation next May, and I noticed they fly out of San Antonio. I'd rather drive 2 hours and catch a flight than sell a kidney to fly out of Corpus.

No, but my family does all the time. Sister lives in Seattle, its HQ...she and her husband are heavy travelers. Mom is in Houston uses them whenever she can...she is high maintenance and only flies first-class. She hates United (don't we all).

For a large-ish airline, they both swear by them as being a lot better run than the majors.

My wife and I flew Alaska to the PNW in September, and it was great. I told her we should look into flying Alaska more because it was such a good experience. They were well-organized, efficient, and personable, and I was really impressed. She had flown Alaska quite a bit when she lived in Seattle and had the same experience then, so it seems it has been consistent over the years.

Always fly out of SA when you can. Ive never had a bad experience there. Maybe its because I'm a chase saphire preferred customer, though.

I'll fly Alaska air anytime I have the choice. Better in first or coach than the other domestic airlines. Use them to fly to Alaska and Seattle often.

Flew them for the first time this year (Houston/ to Anchorage) and it was great.

I've flown Alaska Airlines out of Austin to Pasco (my brother lives in Richland) via SLC and via Seattle several times. I've also flown to Anchorage twice, Vancouver and Fairbanks. Austin has a lot more flights than IAH.

I take them frequently to Seattle. Pre-order the fruit and cheese platter to get some Beecher's and Tillamook cheeses during the flight.

Alaska is direct to Seattle from SA, so no reason to make a longer drive for a longer flight on a ****tier airline.

Corpus airport rules. Can get to your gate in about 10 minutes after getting there if not checking a bag. It's also decently nice and quiet. Rare bright spot for that city.

Probably not what you were looking for.

I always loved the planes with The Prospector on the tail. Before they made them all the Eskimo.
