How old was that person? Could be anyone, family, friends, celebs, as long as you had reasonable interaction with them in some form.

I remember my great-grandfather was 98 and have vague memories as a young child. I have not met anyone who was over 100 years old.

The oldest American current alive.

I am curious if anyone has met a super-centenarian - 110 years and older.
That would be amazing. There aren't too many of those in this world.

Knew a guy that worked out at my clinic and gym. Lived to be 101 and died two weeks shy of 102. Was a pilot in WW2 and Korea. Flew for Braniff Airways for 32 years. Started running in his 50s and was a competitive Masters runners including setting some centenarian records in track and field. Really just an awesome guy. Lived actively his whole and health was never an issue until the last few months

Had a tax client that was 103 when I took over her account. I called her the first time I reviewed her file because I was sure we had it wrong. She answered and confirmed she was born in 1912. She was sharp as a tack at 103. I moved jobs but always remembered her. Came across her obituary in 2019 - she died a week shy of 107.

My family lives a long time, despite my efforts to not do that.

Grandpa on dad's side lived until 97
Grandma was 96 when she passed
Grandpa's sister Liz lived to be 103.
My dad is 84 and still fine despite drinking a 2/5ths bottle of Ol Grandad almost every single day since the early 90s
Both my dad's brothers are in their 80s and fine

On my Mom's side all the sisters died in their 70s
But my Grandad on that side lived to be 93
And his dad was well into his 100s when he finally died. I think he was 105 or 106. Mean Mean person with a mean mean lap dog. That little **** dog was vicious.

101 year old patient that I followed from age 93-101, still living semi-independently in a senior living complex when I last saw her. She lived to be 107.

I bought my CPA practice from a guy who was quite a bit older than me. Some of his clients were in their late 80s to early 90s when i took over. I would guess probably a dozen lived to be 98 to 103, Two made it past 100, one died at 101 and one at 103.

My wife had a grandmother that passed away last year at 102, we made a trip from Houston to Waco and back every few weeks to visit her after her daughter (my wife's mom) passed away from cancer 4 years ago and my wife because the closest relative.

Another interesting question is what person do you know that was born the earliest? For me that's one of my great grandmothers, I was in the 2nd grade when she passed away in 1976...she was born in 1886.

John Tyler was born when Washington was President and his grandson is still alive.

This is interesting.

George Washington - In office April 30, 1789 March 4, 1797
John Tyler (March 29, 1790 January 18, 1862)

Quote:

Tyler and his son Lyon remarried much younger women and fathered children at advanced ages, such that Tyler's daughter Pearl did not die until the 157th year after her father's birth. As of January 2024, Tyler still has one living grandson (234 years after John Tyler's birth) through Lyon, making him the earliest former president with a living grandchild. This grandson, Harrison Ruffin Tyler was born in 1928 and maintains the family home, Sherwood Forest Plantation, in Charles City County, Virginia.

He is probably the only human being alive with a grandparent born in the 1700s. Amazing.
