Not to make light of it, but take some solace in the fact that the rabies thing isn't that big an issue anymore.

The serum injection is the worst one and you only have to do that once. Both my kids were exposed to an animal about 6 years ago and had to go through the regimen and they handled it like champs. One was 5. One was 10.

It's no longer in the stomach just a big shot like the DTAP.
And we are damn lucky it's so much easier than it was. That's something you can be grateful for.

That's an incredible run of hardships. You have every right to be bitter and resentful, but it sounds like you're handling things as well as can be expected. I respect you for that! I sincerely hope things improve for you, and hope a little internet venting was helpful.

Damn. You and your family are really going through it. I'm so sorry. I hope that all these setbacks and hardships will feel like a distant memory soon. It sounds like you have a great family around you; what a blessing that you can all be there for each other.

I wish you hadnt deleted as it was a way to cope woth a crappy year....your stuggles are real and I hope your son makes it through with no issues..sucks to even have to do that

A couple of years ago (in Brazos County), the rabies shots were a couple of shots on day one (arms and legs), and then the patient had to come back over a series of weeks for a shot in the arm. Glad your kid is better off than they could be.

I totally get it. The reason I shared it is when our kids were exposed it was a BIG moment of panic for us.

As a parent I totally get where u were going through. U feel helpless and it's pretty damn scary.

Ur kid will 100% be okay. We are so blessed to have the medicine and rabies is the only disease with 100% fatality rate, so no reason to take a chance. But rest assured the medicine and vaxxes while slightly uncomfortable will make sure he is okay.

The serum injection only hurt because there is so much volume in it.

They did not require the rabies shots for my son. Just strong antibiotics.

It is done by county protocol and since there hasn't been a dog with rabies in the county in over 50 years and no dog to human transmission since 1931 they no longer require it

Glad it seems like he is okay.

For my kids, it was a wild animal that they couldn't catch to test so no way to know.

A housebroken dog is a whole different thing.

When I was in the 6th grade got bit by a wild cat. In those days it was in the stomach…. Hurt like hell. But I lived.
