cody canada and the departed are playing gruene hall at the end of the month. I saw them a couple years ago, they played alot of cross canadian stuff. Its half of cross canadian and its only $25.
yes, but you wont be able to see Grady Cross strumming cowboy chords next to him.

I'm not going to knock Randy because he's a good drummer.

Sold out two more nights! Boom. Gonna be a fun week and a fun reunion for sure.

You can certainly see The Departed and hear most of the songs, and they sound amazing. They are all written by Cody so it only makes sense.

However, there are clearly plenty of people who want to see this reunion. I expect it to be awesome!

I didn't even try today. I guess I was just over it after sitting for nearly 4 hours yesterday. But I am glad for them that they were able to sell out four nights, that's pretty crazy.

I'll keep my hotel rooms for now just in case I pick up tickets down the road, but as of right now, I don't think I will.

Yeah, really can't understand why anyone would want to go see an extremely popular band that we've been hoping would get back together for the past 15 years. Doesn't make any sense at all.

The rush and excitement of getting tickets in the public sale is gone. I'm not sad and I'm sure more than once that I will get excited again and consider buying retail tickets. Plenty of time before then, but for now, I'm an old the onion untied from my belt. .

They were popular among college kids for a very limited window of time across maybe 3 albums. They were a big draw in Texas college towns for sure, but i dint think they weren't selling out football stadiums.

It's interesting to me, while I am not a fan (of that genre) I could see where a group so highly valued at the time (who were on the forefront of basically a newly recognizable genre) who disbanded is reuniting so many years after, while the genre is larger and hotter than ever.

One analog I can think of when Soundgarden (username checks out I know) reunited with Chris Cornell. Or when one of the other possible but improbable reunions that would be huge world news...that miracle shot hit and we had the Guns N Roses "Not In This Lifetime" reunion tour.

The scale is different to overall culture but i could see this being as big to texas/red dirt as the GNR reunion was to rock.

They were selling out shows all over the country actually. They weren't playing stadiums by themselves but they played a few with Dierks and a couple others.

They were bigger than you are giving them credit for at the time.

dont get me wrong, i like them, but Ive seen them in some pretty small venues. I dont remember them being a huge deal, certainly not outside the confines of texas and ok. Saw them in denver with randy rogers and there was maybe 4 dozen people there. I wish them and the people going well.

It really depended on the venue. For example, they couldn't draw anyone in Beaumont, TX at their height. But they were selling out venues all over the country. It was odd. Used to sell out the Belly Up Tavern, Joes on Weed Street, the cool venues in the cool places. They really crushed the west coast. And they were really big festival bands because they had such cross-genre appeal. Not to mention they were so popular amongst a cool crowd of musicians. Shooter Jennings, Leeann Womack, Dierks Bentley…. They propelled them in some different circles as well. I've always maintained it was lighting in a bottle, which is why none of the subsequent spin offs have ever reached that level of popularity. They had the right team, right support, right time…

Without a doubt, The Departed is a better band sonically, but will never see the Ragweed type frenzy. There is a lot more to it than pure talent.

It's funny you mention Denver. I wonder what year that was. Maybe The Grizzly Rose (my guess is 2008 if Randy was opener)? The last time they played there was pretty much when things were started my to unravel.
