Only underage kids go to a bar and order "a beer". They've seen it in movies so they think that's what you do.

Maybe his date wanted one for every hole.

We used to go watch live bands at a sports bar pretty regularly. We tipped well. Bartender just knew our order and when she saw me coming she had it waiting for me. It happens.

This is how drinks are ordered on TV and movies... I'm guessing this person was pretty young and/or doesn't go out drinking much

Take the 2 minutes to chat up the bartender. Tell them this is mine and whoever else's drink tonight, here's the first half of your tip for the night, works every single time.

Toucan is a good name for a boy beer or a girl beer.

It's a couple of lines that will never leave my brain.

When I was underage I'd order a particular brand of beer that didn't really exist to make myself seem sophisticated and worldly and older. When the bartender would tell me they didn't have that one I'd act annoyed and tell them to just give me whatever instead. It ALWAYS worked. Every time. So that's my gift to the younger generation who might happen to be reading this today. Enjoy.
