1972, 3 Dog Night playing, the drummer, Floyd Sneed, is drumming a solo when suddenly he stops and stands up, sticks in the air. Then he says "This is the only college campus in the entire country where we are the 2nd best band on campus." They could have played Mary Had A Little Lamb and Jesus Loves Me for the rest of the concert and no one would have cared, they won the crowd over with that comment.

That Iggy Pop/The Pretenders show was awesome.

The only thing I knew about Iggy Pop was that he was affiliated with David Bowie. Didn't know a single song of his. He slayed! After his set, I said "I don't think The Pretenders will be able to top that!"

But they did! When they started Chrissie Hynde said something like "I feel like I ought to get down and kiss the stage Iggy Pop played on!"

Same.

I seem to remember that Chrissie hynde forgot some of the words to the middle of the road. It was a hell of a show though.

The only concert I saw at G Rollie was INXS opening for Cheap Trick. Cheap Trick Played GRW in 1983 and 1985 according to the inter webs.

Best concert I never attended at G. Rollie was Seals and Croft.....because we went to the bar by the old racetrack and traded whisky shots with a new band that had just issued their first album and was playing there....called Alabama.

The Buffett show back in the early 80s was epic. Everyone was in tropical gear and the place was packed.
