I'm a big fan of Gabriela's. Probably some of the best Italian food in south Texas. I'd put it up against the Italian we get here in Pittsburgh.

Love Isabels Cafe for breakfast. It's a humble breakfast spot with traditional RGV breakfast. It's great.

The best seafood is on Port Isabel at Joe's Oyster Bar. Hands down the best seafood you'll find and not a tourist trap.

I also hit up Pirates Landing, Grapevine, and Dirty Al's. Blackbeards isn't what it used to be. Was a staple for us growing up but not the same anymore. Others may feel different.

Louie's Backyard has a seafood buffet. It's not bad.

Dona Carmen's has a breakfast taco made on a homemade tortilla better suited to a burrito.

No...the Shark Tank Lounge is in Port Isabell.

I rarely get up around the Lex so I don't know what's up there.

Haven't noticed any change in Blackbeard's myself.

Give Isabel's a whirl, you will be surprised......that is where the original SPI/PI deal with the great big tortillas started back in the 70's, she was the abuelita of bad ass breakfasts in the area.

We noticed that at The Grapevine Cafe, their "breakfast taco" started with 3 eggs and went from there…….then we saw one. Now I know.

Liam's is the best that we have found. I have gone to pretty much every place on the island and have favorites dishes at many different places though.

In terms of food quality I agree, but my goodness their prices seemed really high to for what they are. They used to have off menu items, "local's specials" that were really, really good and at a very fair price. Last time I got the Local's ribeye sandwich is was over $20.....Uggh.

Back in the day from October until spring break Monday nights were steak night at Blackbeards and it was the highlight of the locals social scene during the week. Great steak deals and they would have the cheap beer on tap. Ahhhh, the halcyon days of Island life.

FNB is by far the best dinner spot on the island. Where lantern grill used to be.
