I turned those off long ago. AMBER alerts get pasted all over local news websites, social media, etc. I don't need my phone going nuts for some kid hours away when I can get the same information other ways.
I use them to my advantage. "AMBER ALERTS HAPPEN WHEN KIDS DON'T LISTEN TO THEIR PARENTS AND GET STOLEN" Makes them think twice about not eating their vegetables.
I figured you'd be anxious to find missing children.

Some meetings do get loud for a moment.
Strange thing for me. I live about two hours from Kansas City and two hours from St. Louis. I'd guess that's where most of the alerts I get would come from, but they all seem to come from Springfield, MO, three hours away and much smaller than either KC or STL.
A nice idea (Amber alerts to cell phones), but more or less useless.

I think the weirdest place AMBER alerts go is the time clock that the hourly workers use to clock in and out at my place of employment.
Eating lunch in the break room, looking around wondering, "Where the heck is that beeping coming from?"
I keep mine on and hope to save a kid someday.
I turned mine off because when that once in a million chance comes along that I could be the one to save a kid I hope something horrible happens to them instead.

I've always wondered if they would ever solve that case. It was such a brutal murder and kind of out of place. I know the Arlington PD collected some DNA and I wonder given the advances in ancestry tracing if they could ever get some decent clues.

it does seem to be predominantly a parent who the government is preventing from seeing their child on those things.
Yeah, I know some Arlington PD and they are hoping some cousin of the bad guy submits to 23andMe and they get a hit.
I think there's some DNA from the Missy Bevers murder too that Midlothian PD are hoping gives them a lead someday.

its always a head scratcher when vehicle description is gold nissan sentra or white jeep grand cherokee.and you see 4/5 or each one in the nxt 5 miles
And here is the other side of the coin. When the issue is resolved, no details are given as to what happened or what led to the disappearance. We're all supposed to get engaged in the search but then are given zero closure.

not to mention there's an alert for everyone now. Green, clear, gray. Im pretty sure the policy is almost null on outcomes.
