How long do you want to ignore this user?
I am 55 and not getting any younger. I feel like I am writing the second to the last chapter of my life, so the pursuits in life seem more meaningful and purposeful. I retired from the army with severe PTSD, but I healed myself 160 degrees. I was given a second chance in life to accomplish all that I want to. PTSD is a double-edged sword. I was given the opportunity to retire at 45 and stay retired.

I am deeply appreciative of that opportunity because it gave me time to pursue what I wanted to. I also feel fortunate to have passions and goals to pursue and achieve. However, I have many which keeps me hopping. I am truly excited about life. I have passions that are very meaningful to me and my wife. I was just curious about what drives you folks. Perhaps I need to add to my list. Here are my passions and goals:

- Help and support my wife who has severe PTSD.
- Publish a cookbook and make a couple bucks.
- Rewrite a PTSD book on healing.
- Start a second career so my wife can quit working.
- My goal is $365,000 per year.
- Buy a nice RV (Wife wants that).
- Go on more cruises.
- Explore different countries with my wife.
- Help people with PTSD
- Live my life in accordance with my 4 mantras.
- Make the world a better place.
- Become debt free.
- Have some absolute fun.
- Watching the football team win.

I'm predicting at least one poster will list "boobs" as their sole passion.

I do not judge them.

So if you have been retired for 10 years what's the plan for making $365,000? That's the upper end of the top 2% of individual income earners in the US and your last job a decade ago isn't exactly marketable. Last time I checked starting threads on TexAgs doesn't pay.

I am 57 and in relatively good shape. Sure, I might be carrying an extra 15 lbs. I noticed that I tire easily, and it makes me mad because I don't think I should feel that way. Case in point is using an ax to fell small trees and feeling worn out in a few minutes. I don't think I should be that exhausted so quickly.

Is what I am experiencing normal for my age?

You healed yourself 160 degrees? Is that almost all the way around but not quite?

On a more serious note…

$365k is a lot of money for a secondary career. Do you have a plan yet for what that is?

What are your 4 mantras?

Personally, my current main drivers (as a father of 3 young children) are to raise well-adjusted and resilient kids, and to stick it out with my current job long enough to undergo a major career change by my mid-40s with minimal concern over finances.

I'm not sure whose sock this is, but the other topics he started made it pretty obvious this is a repeat offender.

New account that's been on a binge of starting new, weird "engagement" topics on various boards across the site.

I am fortunate and have a six figure retirement income. 365k is not impossible.

What industry are you in now and what do you want to transition to?

It is my belief healing 160 degrees with PTSD is the upper limit of healing. PTSD doesn't completely disappear. I also believe folks with severe PTSD will become new people when they heal because their constitution changed significantly.

My 4 mantras:
- Treat everyone with dignity and respect.
- Always do the right thing.
- Give the world your best.
- Have some absolute fun in life.

Do you have any Kama Sutra self help books or personal favorites? As a veteran, I miss the camaraderie the military provided (sometime too homoerotic! ) and cant relive that in civilian employment as it'd be a fireable offense. Let's bridge this gap

I have stopped. It is too unpredictable like basketball. Ranked teams will lose several games. It was a good learning experience. I can find much better consistency in college football.
