Well, about as expected, though I expected Tyson's energy to at least get him through the 3rd round. He looked good for about 30 seconds, and Jake Paul looked scared after the first two punches Tyson landed. Tyson's feet stopped moving after the 2nd round, you could see his knee was not ok, and he basically played defense and followed Paul around the ring for the the rest of the night. Without that knee, he had no chance of generating real power.

Paul, to his credit, knocked off the taunting and mocking he was doing for rounds 3-5, realizing he had to make it look good and go the distance. He never tried to put Tyson on the mat, you could see that clearly. He realized Tyson was an old man with a bad knee and took the fight through the end as the contract probably stated.

Tyson looked like Biden walking back to his corner a few times. He had that look like "Why did I do this? Is it almost over?" starting in about the 3rd round.

I felt the same. His trainer even told him that it was the last round, hang in there.

I was happy he didnt get knocked out. I remember being a kid and watching Mike thrash everyone in the late 80s. Didn't want to see him knocked out.

Good for jake paul realizing that knocking mike out would have been a bad look for everybody.

The undercard fights were awesome though

That was just sad. Here I was hoping for a Tyson knock out but Paul literally went easy on him. He'd connect on a swing or two and then just wait for Mike to get his legs underneath him. Jokes on me though, I fought through the buffering to watch it.

Paul was very cautious and used his youth to land many more punches. You could tell Mike fell off in round three and never had a chance
Jake wasn't being cautious, he was taking it easy on Tyson. Tyson had no legs and even if he had some power early, he could never close and get Jake in range.

Jake landed quite a few hooks and jabs but never followed any of them up with a right cross which would have ended the fight b/c Tyson was leaving himself exposed on that side.

Just glad Tyson didn't get bloodied and battered. He would have died in the ring tonight against any of the heavyweights he fought in the 80s and 90s.

My 13 year old has never really watched boxing. I think he was expecting Rocky IV. He was so disappointed. That was the best part for me. I told him, "That's just how the world will do ya. Build up everything for a year and then all you get is a wet fart."

Ended up watching on my phone and it was great.

I got to give Paul some credit, he was very respectful of Tyson after the fight. Said some very thoughtful words to him and his family. He's still a ****** but it's obvious he's much more mature.

Agree. Jake Paul has more power than I expected but he has no defense and his movement is just terrible.

Do one better. Go down the youtube rabbit hole and watch Tyson's fights in order. Almost all of them are available, and it's incredible to watch him at the start of his career.

Jake Paul has set himself up to be a heel where people will tune in to watch on the offchance he gets beat to a pulp in the ring.

And then spends half the fight running backwards in the ring and tying up his opponent.

Basically the Floyd Mayweather special.

It's lucrative for a couple of the highest profile fighters with a following.

But it's the reason Boxing had been dying for 3 decades now.

And yeah...I suppose that means Paul is the modern face of boxing.

Told my dad this earlier tonight..if his trainer wouldn't have died and he had good influences around him, he could have been the best boxer of all time.

I think Tyson aggravated whatever is wrong with his knee in the first and second rounds. He came out moving alright and got Paul's attention real quick with a couple of those hooks. By the end of the second Tyson was wincing in pain and there was no chance. All he could do was back up and try to play defense.

Don't get me wrong, father time will always remain undefeated. I just think Tyson with two good knees could have a shot at knocking him out in the first two rounds. He still hits like a truck.

Agree completely. Even after Cus D'Amato died he was still progressing well, because Kevin Rooney still had him in a good mindset, a good progression to the title, and he was still developing as a boxer. It was when Don King started whispering in his ear that Kevin Rooney was stealing from him, Tyson believed it, and joined Don King, that Tyson fell apart completely. He was no longer developing as a boxer, he was just relying on the fading influence of what he had learned under D'Amato, Teddy Atlas, and Rooney. More into the glitz and glam, the party, and the women, and he fell apart as a boxer and a man.

He was well on his way to becoming the greatest ever to step in the ring, and it was destroyed by Don King's influence. I still don't think we've seen anyone since him that is able to generate that same level of power from a tight stance while still maintaining good protection,

Just got back. Wished Tyson had more to offer, but the whole night was a blast. I went in with low expectations for the actual fight but high for the overall scene, and that was met. Undercards right before it were great. 2nd row in the stands and the people watching in front of us was great. Saw Shaq, Holyfield, Michael Irvin, Macchio, Zabka, Micah Parsons, Jerry, some guy dressed as Zach G in The Hangover with a baby bjorn, and several others

"I have a biting fixation" lol

Some things to point out here:
1. Kevin Rooney was an alcoholic and it was causing a rift between himself and Tyson.

2. Meeting Robin Givens WAS THE START OF THE DOWNFALL in 1987.

3. Tyson's co-managers prior to King were Jimmy Jacobs and Bill Cayton. Jacobs never told Tyson he was terminally ill. Convinced Tyson to unknowingly sign a contract that would gave his wife a chunk of Tyson's earnings after his passing.

4. He really didn't know who to trust at that point. Donald Trump offered to become Tyson's manager and make him the wealthiest athlete who ever lived.

5. King plays the race card to Tyson by saying he she "keep it black" and don't go with Trump. Tyson declines Trump's offer.

6. Jacobs dies, Tyson fires Cayton after King convinces Tyson that Cayton is also stealing from him.

Don't ever conflate what Paul does to what one of the GOAT's in boxing does. Mayweather has incredible talent as a boxer. Paul has incredible talent to make people want to hate him so much that they'll tune in for the off chance that he'll lose to the carnival barkers he sets fights up with.
