No, this is the 'yeah, science' guy from Breaking Bad.
He is really good in baseball. No, wait. Football.

I'm one of those idiots paying to see this.

I think it's like going to a Motley Crue concert. It may be a money grab but it's going to bring back memories from my youth.

Well worth it!!
Paying to watch it? Heck, it's at Jerry World. I might go see it in person.

Was thinking something more like this:

Tyson is regarded by almost everyone as one of the greatest heavyweights of all time... but who did he ever beat that was any good?

His best win was Michael Spinks in a fight he dominated. But Spinks was a light heavyweight who weighed up.

Second best win is a 39 year old Larry Holmes who was a shell of himself.

Holyfield was dominating Tyson when Tyson bit his ear off.

All that being said, I hope Tyson destroys that idiot

May be worth going just to say you've seen Tyson fight live, same reason I'd go watch MJ play again if he was resigned no matter how bad he is now (although I saw him as a Wizard).

ETA: Don't know how this thing is getting pulled together but it could be a golden opportunity for boxing to get some exposure with a legit undercard.

That was Paul Walker. The terrible actor in those terrible race car movies.
Wrong on both counts.

Yeh I don't think they were race cars.

I wasn't trying to be a dick, I was saying the movies aren't about race cars. Aren't they like illegal street racing or something? I haven't seen them.

Well looks like this thing is actually happening next Friday night after all the hub bub.

The latest Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson odds from FanDuel list Paul as the -310 favorite (risk $310 to win $100) to win, with Tyson a +240 underdog, with the over/under for total rounds at 5.5, while the fight to go the distance is +176. Paul to win by knockout is +100, while Tyson to win by knockout is +320.

USA Today asked two gambling experts and 3 ex-champs to predict the fight. Both gamblers say Tyson is going to get hurt, the 3 ex-champs, Buster Douglas, Lennox Lewis, and Roy Jones Jr., all think he's going to beat the **** out of Jake Paul.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/boxing/2024/11/06/mike-tyson-vs-jake-paul-predictions-expert-picks-netflix/76092458007/

It starts at 7 pm Central but has 6 undercards.

Tyson is 58, Paul is 27.

I have no confidence this will be legit. I'd give anything to see Tyson go into this thing like he really wants to win and punish Paul. But I'm sure the economics don't support that approach.

It's staged. Mike would knock Paul out by round 3. Probably Mike by decision or possibly a draw (I don't see Mike's ego going along with that but.…$$$$$$ and the older Mike is chill AF.

So if you put $100 on Mike to win and he wins you get $240? What if it's a draw?

Sorry, I've never done an online bet. It just seems obvious to me that Mike won't lose so I'm thinking of putting $500 on him and then I would get 2.4 X 5 = $1,200 winning $700. I just worry about a purposeful draw and A) it would suck to lose $500 B) It seems like fraud to have a predetermined outcome. 8 two minute rounds with 14-ounce gloves (vs 10 ounce). Jake said he expects to weigh 220 and that Mike will be 235. Upon further reflection, as Mike said two minutes and 8 rounds will mean more action, but I worry that without a knockdown in the first 3 rounds, the fluffy gloves and Jake landing more may have him win on points. Still, Jake is a pretty heavy odds favorite and that just seems counterintuitive. He's 58 but this is Mike Tyson and I think he'll have fire in the belly. I wish the gloves were ten ounces.

This would probably be about the worst possible thing to do your first online bet on.

Sanctioning by the State of Texas definitely affects how I feel about this bout and potentially betting on it.

My thoughts:
Age may or may not affect Tyson's ability to throw a punch.
Age definitely affects his ability to take a punch. His durability was pretty bad 25 years ago, and that freefalls exponentially. His chin was clearly diminished then, and it certainly hasn't gotten better.
Endurance is another factor affected by age, so if Tyson doesn't finish by the 2nd round, it's gonna get ugly very fast.

With that said...
I hope Mike Tyson caves Jake Pauls face in. Beats the ever living **** out of him. Knocked out cold. **** Jake Paul.

No way I'm betting on this game. Regardless of what I said above, I think this fight is fixed...I just don't know which way.

Tyson was a shot fighter 20 years ago. If this isn't fixed (which it probably is), he is going to lose.

1. I'm pretty sure you can't watch this at a sports bar.
2. Maybe I could get a short term commitment to streaming Netflix
3. Join fellow TexAgs in The Woodlands at someone's house. I make good Buffalo wings.

I do appreciate Jake Paul being smart enough to capitalize on the knowledge that lots of people want to see him get the **** beat out of him.
