Sleep in at the Four Points by the airport, grab lunch at Applebees, take a nap on the bus, play your set by muscle memory, and live another day. Beats trying to get a good seat for bingo night.

The Eagles are still touring without Glenn Frey. I'm sure they have plans in place for post-Don Henley.

...and Genesis peaked with their live concert video with Bill Bruford sitting in. Not sure what year that was, but it was showcasing their first album sans Peter Gabriel, A Trick of the Tail.

Middle market venue like The Woodlands, that was sold out?

Didn't see that, though ZZ Top would probably do pretty well in the Toyota Center.

I saw what looked like a string of tribal Casino gigs in Estero FL, Greenville, SC, and Bossier City.

Ricky Medlocke was most certainly part of the original band. He grew up with the VanZants and other members and they always stayed fairly close.

Medlocke's grandfather was an influence on the band and several members. Skynard had a somewhat transient membership even during their height. RVZ and Gary Rossington were the soul of LS though. Talented bunch no matter what.

Is Journey still Journey without Steve Perry. Still have original member, Neil Schon. Jonathan Cain came in the middle so he can claim some hits. All depends what you like.

Who would pay to watch a Kiss concert these days? Paul and Gene have been touring w/Fake Ace and Fake Peter for years now. Paul can't sing any more, and Gene can barely fit into the spandex.

Once again, Santana. Literally the entire band changed out eventually, but as long as he stayed on guitar, it's still Santana to me.

Granted, that's a notable exception.

If you are seeing this bar band play freebird and sweet home, then it's just a LS cover band.

Now if they are playing material that was released by the current incarnation of LS. then yeh you're second sentence is accurate.

I liked Red, White, and Blue and the Last Rebel from the 90's-00's incarnation of Lynyrd Skynyrd

Was Fleetwood Mac, actually Fleetwood Mac during their heyday. But having the core of a band who was with them during their peak years should qualify as still the band. But interesting conversation.

We all know the story of John Rutsey and Neil. I didn't know until recently that Geddy was kicked out originally when he and Alex as kids were doing small gigs in Toronto. Of course that was before any album but still. He got booted and then they let him back in.
