I just hate being accosted (by kids or adults) because I went to a store where I needed an item. It's really bad at Lowe's on Saturdays in the spring knowing they will be busy because of the warmer weather and people wanting to get projects done.

The popcorn is expensive AF too. I got hounded one day last year leaving Lowes and thought ok sure, $18 later for one bag….

If one of my kids is with me I just tell them I'm sorry but I've got my own kids team/sport/activity that I'm currently paying for. Otherwise I just say no thank you.

When the DirecTV folsk in Sam's Club ask who my TV provider is I either lie and tell them I already have their service or tell them I don't have a TV in my home.

What's the big deal? I just walk right past them. Might toss a "No thanks" out there if they try to talk to me then I don't give them a second thought.

I told my son when he was selling popcorn that if he got 10 people to tell him no in one hour I would buy him a Happy Meal at McDonald's.

He sold $500 in popcorn and only had 9 people say no. I still got him a Happy Meal.

First rule in sales, make people say no.

I'm not giving them free money that they will then turnaround and use to claim as a tax deduction.

That's a great idea! I think I'm going to start carrying a brochure for some crappy product in my pocket at all times. I'll immediately pull it out and start asking him questions and ask him if I can get their contact info.
