I'd like to get back down to my goal weight (140-145). Halloween candy, Thanksgiving food, and endless snacking at game night added up this year

Are you a woman?

Time to keep an eye out for new opps Nope. Applied to a few jobs but no bites. Not in a bad place but starting to coast which usually means it's time for a change

Get down to 15% body fat and build on my strength training regimen Lots of progress and well on my way. Been doing strength training at least 5x a week since Jan. I'm at 17% BF, and this time a year ago I was at 27.5%. Definitely happy with this progress

Build more plant-based foods into my diet I eat a lot more plant-based protein. I eat about 40 eggs a week though. Oops?

I need to buy a house, there's also that current lease is ending in September and we're moving across the country with the goal to buy a home. This will probably happen!

I technically started the process last year but I did just get the email saying my new UK passport has been printed and is on it's way. Imma go ahead and count that as a 2024 Goal checked off the list.

-Obtain U.K. Passport
Boom. done

-Learn Spanish
I have failed miserably at this. I really need to renew my efforts and dedicate more time to it every day

-Add 10 new types of Scotch to my collection
I've added one so far. Still time though

-Read 1 book a month
I definitely spent more time reading than learning Spanish. I've finished 26 books this year

-Install French doors in my home office
Never got around to it and bought a new house instead

-Try Hkarl (Icelandic Fermented Shark)
My trip to Iceland was canceled because I bought a new house

1. Respond to the prompt each day in my One Question a Day journal. Shiiiiiiiiips. Stopped mid-March. I can pick it back up though!

2. Have a clean cut from my current org on April 1. Exception will be to mentor/advise backfill if/when she needs it at no cost. Done.

3. Fully participate and complete all assignments for 2 writing courses. Done.

4. Establish a weekly writing practice. Not even close. Meanwhile, freaking Sonia has finished a draft of her book. Ugh, she's amazing.

5. Get out of the country for a bit. See two new states. Refined my focus to the remaining states instead of out of country. 2 new states down this year, 2 more planned, 3 more to plan, 2 for 2025 and then I'll be done.

6. Read >52 books but <150. Currently sitting at 90 so >150 seems likely.

Are you finding it hard to find time in your schedule to write? Or is it more of an motivation/inspiration issue?

Definitely the motivation/inspiration, or as I like to call it, a lack of self discipline.

This is the first year I have set goals/resolutions.

- ride my bike over 200 miles. Currently sitting at 178
- read at least 12 books. Read 17 so far.

Looking at upping the cycling goal to 300.

That's always tough.

First a disclaimer:

All writing advice is bull **** . What works for someone else might not work for you. You have to find the right combo that fits your lifestyle and work schedule

I know a lot of people say to write every day and I don't think that's reasonable. It's sort of the same thing with scheduling time to write. Tuesdays at 7pm might fit a schedule but that doesn't mean you are in the correct mindset to knock out a couple thousand words. What I have seen work for people is committing to write x amount of words a week. They don't set a specific day or time just a word count for the week.

Do you use something like pacemaker? It has really helped my wife and our friends, especially with being able to put in specific black out dates, deadlines, etc.

Thank you for the care and attention to me on this. That's thoughtful of you.

The silliest memories roll around in my head at the least convenient times for me to stop what I'm doing and write them down. Prioritization is my key.

We still have a little bit of time left to get those goals accomplished. How is it looking for the end of the year for everyone? Anyone reach a goal the hadn't initially though of?

-Obtain U.K. Passport
Boom. done

-Learn Spanish
Failed at this. I'm starting over this week

-Add 10 new types of Scotch to my collection
2 new bottle added but honestly this seems less of a big deal when I set it as a goal.

-Read 1 book a month
On my 42nd book of the year

-Install French doors in my home office
Never got around to it and bought a new house instead

-Try Hkarl (Icelandic Fermented Shark)
My trip to Iceland was canceled because I bought a new house
