Facebook is actually making a comeback with the younger crowd.
my kids are 7 and 9, and they recently discovered they can all be on FB messenger with their peers.

Not facebook per se, just the messenger, but they think it's the coolest thing in the world they can talk to their neighbor friends and classmates.
So this will probably age me but using it like a newer version of AOL instant messanger (AIM).

ICQ or GTFO

Nobody 30 or younger thinks FB is worthwhile. It's been that way for at least a decade, if not longer.

It's customer base is aging rapidly. The younger generation doesn't have one site like FB that they flock to, so there's no comparable site for them. And I bet they're fine with that.

If you're active on FB, you might as well be wearing a "Help I've fallen and I can't get up" button.

Actually, no.

The customer base may be 'aging rapidly', but no moreso than those who are younger. The truth is that Facebook has a bigger appeal the older you get.

Many of the younguns will become more attracted to what it offers as they get older, and I don't mean decades older. It's a great way to stay in touch with groups who are separated geographically more and more over time. The older you get, the more groups you touch, and the more they are separated. And that's just one feature.
Greater love hath no man than this....

Man I spent hours and hours on IRC at Zachry Engg Center during the A&M days. It was fun at the time.
ICQ, someone in the comp labs there showed me that but I did not like it at all. It made that weird sound that put me off.
