What counts as "fast food?"

Seems like a lot of these replies shouldn't qualify.
You ask these folks who is the hottest woman in the world and half of them would name a guy because they're idiots. And ghey.

Plaza Diner - New Braunfels

Doubt any NB folk remember it though.

On the corner where the coffee shop has been?
in the corner where the black whale is.

Used to go for a cheeseburger and chocolate milkshake with my grandparents

That's right. I remember it being there but not sure if we ever went there. Usually went to TJs (original on Seguin) if we were getting a burger.
TJs was great in that spot. Yellow wooden building, rickety wooden floor. The trimmings bar right by the front door.

Actually now that I think about it Ironhorse over by where the smokehouse used to be was a great burger. Plus that wooden playground in the back was awesome as a kid.

I got a burger the other day.
I only had two bites.
When it fell on the ground it exploded.

In San Antonio, it's Chester's by a mile.
I love Chester's, but waiting 10 minutes in a maze to order and then waiting 15 more minutes to go get your food at a counter isn't fast food.

Yeah. Haven't been there in a while, but Ironhorse was always solid.

Who makes it?

I say it's between Freddy's, Sonic and N and Out.

Sonic??? Their burgers are fine, but the best?

It's In-n-Out and their fries are also great.

The double double with onions cannot be beat for a fast food burger.

I'll fight you if you disagree.

Burgers are good. Bordering on great on top day of the year. Fries are f'ing disgusting though. I say that about very, very few foods. Limp and soggy tasteless trash. "Animal style" is a stupid gimmick that can not and will not ever save those massacred potatoes.

Fast food only counts if a drive thru window is present.
Texas Burger is pretty solid. They are like what Whataburger used to be before they got bought out by yankees.
Braums is ok
I see Freddy's mentioned a few times. It sucks. Had it twice. Soggy fries, way too much salt in burger, paper thin patty.

If my only choices for a meal at the time were McD's BK, or Sonic I would just skip that meal.

I'll start with one major requirement: They can be in the running if they will make my burger cooked medium - not the dried up sliced hockey puck Whataburger is churning out these days.

Agreed. McDonalds burgers are a combination of soy and preservatives formed to resemble the shape of a burger. GTFO with a BigMac. Who wants thousand island on a burger.

McDonald's beef doesn't contain soy or fillers. It may not be the best beef but it's still 100% beef.

It appears you are correct about the beef being 100% beef so I learned something new today. The original point remains. McDonalds is still trash.

Which In-n-Out did you go to, and when's the last time you were there? The ones in New Braunfels, San Marcos, and South Austin are excellent. They no longer have soggy fries after working out the initial kinks with opening.

And I think animal style is not good. They best thing to get is the #1 Double Double with onions. The way they put that full slice of onion between the two patties is magic.

Big Mac sauce isn't Thousand Island. There's no ketchup/tomato in it.

In-N-Out, Culver's, and P. Terry's have become my family's go-to's. They consistently hit the mark on quality, service, and price. As much as I loved Whataburger over the years they're not consistent on quality and their service is just damn terrible in some cases now. It has become something we get only when travelling. Shake Shack is in town now too with a drive through but I know they're more expensive and can be hit and miss at some locations. Given all of those options, places like Sonic, Wendy's, Jack in the Crack, McD's, and BK are a complete afterthought.

Whataburger is OK if it's the only option and there's no In-n-Out nearby.

Dairy Queen is only good for ice cream and steak finger baskets.

Whataburger around me sucks nowadays. It isn't fast and I don't know if my burger will be good or made as ordered

Regretfully, I say in n out is best fast food. They're consistent in what you get and how long it'll take

Speaking anecdotally, the Whataburger on SPI is still great. My parents live there, so that's the one I go to most often these days, and it's never disappointed. Always fresh, well-made, quick, and orders always correct.
