Maybe controversial, but I've always been a big fan of the New World, so I'll allow it.

I think the real triumph of Beethoven's Ninth is only partly the groundbreaking music itself. For that piece to have been composed by an entirely deaf man has to be one of the greatest (I think THE greatest) accomplishments in the history of music.
