Old rule used to be stay until bride and groom leave. Since most brides and grooms nowadays are in no hurry to go consummate their marriage, that rule no longer applies

When bride and groom are staying until 2 AM, what time is ok to leave? I think that, if there is a dinner served, anytime after dinner. Otherwise, 90 minutes. What's the GBs thoughts?

Get your dinner and make sure you at least talk/congratulate the couple and you're good to go

As soon as you are drunk or when your date agrees to spread em, whichever comes first

From my experience, as soon as the police have finished their interrogation.

If there is anyone cuter than that Irish girl singing that song, I haven't seen them today. That whole clip just makes you happy.

5 AM is when I get up to go run.

Really?

You've never mentioned that you run.

Leave when you're ready. If available, say goodbye to bride/groom

I used to travel extensively to Ireland for work. Always loved the fact that no matter what pub you were at as it got close to closing time, often the whole place would break out in song. Was awesome.

Has always been my favorite destination. Used to go almost every year when I was fresh out of college. Irish people also tend to love Texans as well.

My wife still has family that live over there so we still go back as much as possible.

Leave after bride and groom leave.

Is there a bedding ceremony? How hot / drunk / high on the crazy scale are the bridesmaids?

Leave after you close the deal and before she becomes a stage 5 clinger. And whatever you do, don't join the brides family for a friendly game of touch football.

Weddings suck. I'd rather attend a funeral.

Until you get kicked out or successfully seduce a bridesmaid.

Visiting Ireland for the first time in a couple months. Should be fun.

There isn't usually a sign-out sheet. No one will know whether you left before the ****ty chicken was served or after the bride's uncle got in a late night drunken fight with his third wife Rhonda. They only invited you for the toaster they're going to return for store credit at target anyway.

I'm sure you've got it all planned out, but spend as much time outside Dublin as possible. Dublin is fine, but it's very much in line with most major metro cities. The smaller towns are where the culture shines.

Dublin pubs are fun, but half of them tend to treat it as a tourist event. The small towns have your regular folks and good trad music and craic.

Or, when the groom starts to try two feed the singer drinks or tries to hold her hand at about 1:55. it might be water, but I'm guessing vodka/gin and tonic. Just saying, ;-)

Went to an Indian wedding - one of two white people in the place - people were fantastic - the wedding ceremony lasts for about 5 days- I was invited to all of it. Wow what a week.

I'm landing in Dublin, and spending a day and night there. Heading out to Galway and a tour of the Cliffs of Moher after that and then hopping on the train to Belfast. I've heard there's a lot to do on that city.

had a client who went to an Indian wedding for a very prominent person very recently….holy crap the stories I heard about long those things last!

Just like you said roughly 5 days (and nights) and each party each night lasted until 2 or 3 am…..and every night had a different theme where everyone had to wear different outfits…..

If you talk to a lot of different cultures you'll find out really quick that American weddings suck and are boring compared to how other cultures do them

But to be fair weddings here lead to cat parenting and divorce a lot quicker than they probably do over there.

Joke is on them. I bought it at Bed Bath and Beyond so they're gonna have to use the damn thing.

But the question implies he or she goes and, if so, then how long.....

the implication, and with the OPs history, he is communicating that he wants to be there the least amount of time to not appear rude. And provided that is the case, then just be a adult and don't go. Or be an adult and stay for the entire thing. Or be an adult and make you own decisions.

Either way, OP is a boy trapped in an old man's body.

Correct

I am going to witness the wedding. The party afterwards does not equal the wedding - the party is a lesser thing.

Ragoo said:

I am staying for the entire wedding. When receptions last 8-10 hours, it's not realistic for many to stay for all that.

Ragoo said:

I certainly can, and have done that. I am looking for what the modern protocol is since it is now obvious waiting for the bride and groom to leave is outdated.

Jealousy doesn't suit you.
