She moved home after she graduated and worked some hourly wage jobs that don't require a degree before finding an engineer to marry.

They moved for his job and she had some health issues in the meantime and then never worked again, especially once their daughter arrived.

I think her daughter will be confused if she gets lectured by someone who tells her how important it is to be a strong and independent woman, while depending on a man for everything her entire life. At some point the daughter will have questions.
