TEMPLE TERRACE - Just two years out of college and into her job as a reading teacher, Debra Beasley Lafave was arrested Monday. The Greco Middle School teacher was charged with committing lewd and lascivious acts on or in the presence of a 14-year-old.

After hearing the news, the Hillsborough County School Board wasted no time acting; a letter was delivered to Lafave in jail Monday -- which she declined to sign -- instructing her not to report to school.

With school on hiatus for the summer, Lafave was not expected in anyway, but the school board may not keep her around for next year either.

"At the July 13 regular school board meeting, that would be the earliest opportunity for a recommendation for a suspension without pay," schools spokeswoman Linda Cobb stated, indicating the board would seek that course of action.

No one answered the door at Lafave's Riverview address, but one of the neighbors had plenty to say about the arrest.

"I think it's a disgrace. We're having this problem because we can't pay our teachers enough to get the quality teachers that we need. So we're taking the bottom of the barrel, and that's what you get for being cheap," James Morrison said.

Temple Terrace police would not say if the alleged victim in the case was a student of Lafave's, electing to keep the teen anonymous out of concern over his safety.

She doesn't look much older than 14, herself. Maybe, guys her age think she's jailbait, and it's made her desperate.

And yes, I'd still hit it, even though she doesn't look much older than 14.

She's got crazy eyes, so that could explain going after the 14 year old and his little willy. She could commit "lewd and lascivious acts" acts on me anytime.

So did the horrors of being a free mason drive her to the loving arms of a fourteen year old.

I'm really interested on the women of TexAgs' take on this situation. Is it:

A.) Horrible. She should be locked up in "pound-me-in-the-bum" prison.
B.) Unfortunate. She needs counseling.
C.) Gross. She should be fired but not prosecuted.
D.) Just one of those things that happens. If he's not "damaged" (physically injured, emotionally unstable, etc.) by it, then no action should be taken.

Everybody almost always immediately convicts males that are accused of something like this. They are labeled as monsters that should but thrown in prison and never let out.

I'm curious to compare the reaction to a male and female. The whole Mary Kay Letourneau thing was a joke. They busted her. She got sentenced to 6 MONTHS for RAPE!!! She violated parole and saw him again. She got 7 years for that. She'll be out next year I think. So for banging a minor multiple times, she serves a grand total of 7 and a half years.

Why didn't I have hot teachers that were also willing to put out back in the day?

I love how they include the comment about teacher pay. Irregardless of how you feel about that issue what in the hell does it have to do with her being a child molestor? So we are supposed to believe that if we paid teachers a few thousand more dollars that there wouldn't be the occasional freak like this chick? Uh, ok. For all we know she graduated with honors from college. Nutcases are not determined by salary.
