Aliens are actually demons. There is a reason "sightings" are up as are demonic possessions.

Yeah, but you'd have to make a bar graph for that and I really wanted a line graph. Or we could go straight up Venn diagram

A long time ago man was told of dragons over the distant hills. But man went over those hills and discovered there were no dragons. And then man was told there were giant sea monsters over the sea's horizon. Then we sailed all the oceans and found no sea monsters. We look back on those men as being superstitious simpletons.

But now WE look over the horizon of space and are told there are fascinating and scary creatures out there. Now WE have become the superstitious simpletons just like those men of the past we laughed at. It's just our horizon that's changed. The nature of man has not changed.

It is easy to see, that thou art not used to this business of adventures; those are giants; and if thou art afraid, away with thee out of this and betake thyself to prayer while I engage them in fierce and unequal combat.

The are used to flying in space. Dealing with earth's gravity and atmosphere is a whole new ball game for them.
This is a pretty lame answer. Gravity also exists wherever potential aliens came from.

Gravity is different on other planets.

It's kind of like if we tried to fly a 747 in the atmosphere of Jupiter. I have no idea what would happen, but I don't imagine it would go well.
I imagine we have scientists that do know what would happen, and I imagine if we were at the point of traversing the galaxy we'd really know how to handle it.

But they would also have to design a spacecraft that would be able to handle interstellar flight and flying within earth's atmosphere. It's one thing to figure out the gravitational pull of planet eons away, but another to understand it's atmosphere and weather patterns.

And don't forget about the true heros…viruses. Aliens failed to plan for that **** in War of the Worlds
Not to mention Slim Whitman's Indian Love Call in Mars Attacks.

Bravo. I said something very similar on the uap thread on entertainment a long while back. Every ripple or whales back was a seamonster. Every large fish a creature of unimaginable horror. Hell just look at old maps and charts, they straight up painted the monsters on them. We have been flying for a seconds while sailing the seas for years amd we still don't know everything there is to know. I am with you 100% that this stiff will get filed away unceremoniously when we find an explanation for the various occurrences. By then though the alien people will have latched on to something else as their new indisputable proof.

Let me rephrase for spooderman:

Aliens have not visited earth in the small timespan that humans would have been able to observe and capture data in. This is pretty obvious due to complete lack of evidence of such visits, along with the the fact that it's just extremely unlikely that intelligent life formed anywhere near us in the Milky Way galaxy and then was able to find us, travel to us basically unannounced to the general public, and do so in this tiny time span out of the 4 billion+ years that the earth has existed.

It makes no sense, and there's no point in entertaining the idea of wormholes and all that bull**** to validate the theories when we have no actual idea if that method of travel is possible.

I can't believe I actually just wasted time writing that out.

You're right on the statistical part of it, but we have a very good theoretical understanding of many methods of travel across vast distances may be possible. Teleportation is real. Gravity manipulation is well understood. Etc.

And, likely or not, if reports and sworn testimony are true (debatable) that we have visual sightings of objects combined with multiple types of electric surveillance of them doing impossible things, that has to be considered. Doesn't mean it's aliens but it's certainly unexplained.

Teleportation of information is possible. I didn't think there were any teleportation of matter methods.

As for the other methods, those all require insanely large sources of energy that we don't know how to create right now. And if you're simply speeding up to near light speed to travel, you're still dealing with large amounts of time to make that travel even with the time dilation on the ship. And you're probably getting obliterated by space dust pretty quickly into the trip.

I just think all of those things combined with the short time span we're dealing with here make it basically impossible for visitation to have happened while humans have existed.

People are much more educated these days. There aren't wild claims of aliens being made by rational people and believed by a large portion of the population. The scale of space is also infinitely larger, so the chances of crazy life being out there are much larger than the chances of some dragon sighting actually being true.
